Preta path absorbs chakra and amaterasu is exactly that, so yes it can be absorbed. Just because Nagato didn't absorb it doesn't mean he can't.

Madara made it clear that it could absorb anything chakra based. Only physical impact would get passed it. That evidence is not good enough. If anything, it means Nagato had options; either absorb it or blow it away.

His blowing it away doesn't imply lack of a better option. The point was to get rid of it and he did just that.

Also in terms of the explosive tag evidence posted. The Preta path is part of Gedojustu range. Nagato had not yet learned it by that time. Madara was already aware of such jutsu before he died.

The Preta Absorbs chakra that is true , as a jutsu is made of a limited amount of chakra , but amaterasu is FIRE it spreads on anything even fire itself , there for maybe the preta couldn't absorb amaterasu because :
1. It spreads too fast.
2.It would mean sucking in himself with iT.

that means it does work on eye techniques but not on amaterasu when it already hits .

The only reason I can think of for him to use Deva Path instead is that the time it takes Deva Path to eliminate the flames would be much shorter than the time it would take Preta Path to absorb them. But if that is not the case, then I think you mightttt be correct, although maybe not for eye techniques, just for an assortment of particular techniques, of which Amaterasu is one of.
