no, he wont be able to absorb humans since humans arent consisted of chakra or need chakra to live. In Hashirama's wood's case, chakra is the base of their life. Take away the chakra, the wood dies. While i dont think it can absorb the wood itself, it can absorb the chakra that gives the wood essence, thus causing the wood to wither and die away

Preta path can absorb the chakra in humans...Through physical contact, Like kisame etc..


So if it's able to go past blood, skin , bones etc, and take out the chakra from humans..
I don't see the problem in it taking out the chakra in the wood.. Since afterall it's made from chakra and there IS chakra in it.. that hashirama is controlliong

The wood is created by chakra much like the oil that preta path absorbed fully and completely.

i dont think it can because hashiramas wood style is actually alive. trees are alive he creates life force in those trees. so thats like saying the pretha path can absorb a human being. maybe the pretha path can asborb the charka out the tree but not the entire tree itself

That's the gist of what the Naruto Wiki says. So, based on that information, I assume this:
Preta Path can absorb the chakra from the Wood Release (effectively taking it's life), but cannot absorb the physical wood; so, the wood would still be there, but it would contain no traces of chakra. That is my opinion from what I can gather.

That was a meteor, it wasn't created by chakra unlike Hashirama's wood release.
