He wears black boots, black knee-length shorts with an eyelet-studded orange belt, and a blue pouch belted around his left leg. He also wore a short second belt with a large red "A" on the silver buckle over his right hip, but left it unfastened and threaded the free end along the back of his shorts. A dagger in a green sheath hung at his left hip. On Ace's left arm, and a red and white striped bracelet around his wrist, an orange elbow guard, and his "ASCE" tattoo. He wore a red beaded necklace and an orange hat with two blue smileys, one frowning and one smiling, and a string of red beads sitting above the rim. Two long orange side straps hung down sides of his hat and met at a large medallion of a bull's skull with orange tassels.
Personality:
Ace's personality wasn't much like his father's. However, Ace liked to party as much as his father does. When he boarded a ship that belonged to people he had never met once, he was drawn by the smell of food and decided to enjoy himself while he was there. There are two running gags about Ace. The first is his rather extreme narcolepsy; he tends to randomly fall asleep while eating and conversing, leaving strangers around him wondering if he is dead. the second is his politness however Ace is rather cold and rude to anyone he wasn't familiar with. As the son of Zanji, he lived in his shadow and is to date the first D. depicted to truly question his own right to exist, while displaying the fewest commonly seen D. related traits. Ace seemed to have life-long problems dealing with his parentage, even after being accepted into Kirigakure. Ace has a tendency to never back down from a fight, saying that he would never run once facing an enemy. Because of this, some people believed Ace has a death wish, but in truth he wanted to prevent people he cared for from getting hurt; Kawagiri stated that he inherited this tendency from his father, Gol D. Zanji, despite loathing him. While Ace emerged victorious over enemies he refused to run from, such as Ali and Gats, his stubbornness hurt him on a number of occasions, particularly when he refused to back down against the Gates Masters or Kyle, ending in his defeat. Ace was also easily provoked by and became violent towards anyone who insulted people close to him; in one of Emperor's conversations with Kawagiri, this was revealed to be true of Zanji as well. During his childhood, Ace had a tendency to severely injure anyone who insulted Zanji, though he himself disliked his biological father. Ace's temper got the better of him.

Background Info.
History:
The story of Ace's life starts out 22 years ago during the third great ninja war. At the time there was an outgrowth of rogue shinobi who wished to oppose their villages because they didn't like the way they were being runned. Out of all the horrible ninja the worst of all was Aces father,Gol D. Zanji.(sorry I just couldn't resist using him xd)
Zanji was born in the hidden mist village and for a time was their strongest ninja however one he went rogue and started the largest rogue ninja assotiation in the world. He allied with the leaf villages danzo and the rain villages hanzo to take down the hidden mist together. However Zanji was betrayed by the duo and his fleet captured by the mist. Upon facing his execution he looked into the eyes of his long time enemy, Emperor, and asked him to take care of his unborn son for him. At first Emperor was astonished by the idea of it however he decided that the boy did not deserve to die for his fathers sins, so he adopted him.
Emperor was a great and strong Kirigakure ninja and had no time to raise the young boy so he left him with a friend, Kawagiri, nicknamed the furocious mountain bandit, KIWI-SAMA!!!!!! alls to say Kawagiri wasn't the best mother to the child. As ace grew older he taught himself survival techniques.
When Ace was 10 years old another child was brought to Kawagiri, his name was Kaguya D. Luffy. At first Ace and Luffy didn't get along at all however over time the 2 bonded. Ace would constantly go into the forest and kill wild beasts with luffy attempting to follow. Every day Ace would make it through the jungle and hang out with his friends, while Luffy would be trapped in the jungle to fend for himself. After a year Luffy finally made it through the jungle and upon seeing him Ace's friends surrounded him intending to beat him up, Ace jumped in the middle defending Luffy. His friends attacked him and after about 1 minute of fighting all of Ace's friends were unconscious on the ground. After the incident Luffy followed Ace everywhere, sometimes to too Ace's annoyance.
Eventually at the age of 17 he decided it was time for him to set out to Kirigakure to become a shinobi.
Ace found a teacher to teach him fire techniques, this man was Krf. Krf taught Ace all the necessary fire jutsu before Ace decided to head out to travel the world. On his traveled Ace invented his own fire technique which allowed him to turn his body to fire, gaining the nickname "Fire Fist Ace".
Through Ace's Travels he met many people and befriended many such as, Riku, Keotsu, Shigure, and many others (sorry for not listing you all =/ to lazy xd)
Along his travels he met many teachers and mastered the 5 elements and other various ninjutsu techniques. He came across the home of a few sages known as "The Eight Inner Gates Masters" entering by killing the gaurds and going in to threaten the 4 sages known as Hellsbadass, Goro Kaguya, Izuna Uchiha and Dark Sage. Ace attacked and was easily defeated by Izuna, who was also a master of water, the sages saw Ace's skill and decided they would teach him their greatest techniques. At first Dark sage was his teacher, teaching Ace to unlock 3 gates however Dard Sage was assassinated and so Ace was forced to continue his training with Hellsbadass. Once completing the gates training Ace joined the order.
After 2 years of staying there Ace decided it was time to head out again. He left the temple of the masters and embarked on a journey to learn from the devil himself, Nexus. Ace knew nexus had great knowledge in the art of Fuuinjutsu, something ace was highly interested in. In order to get to Nexus Ace had to travel through the "Cave Of Horors" and complete the tests at hand. He did it although Ace admits it even today it was an Extremely hard test.
Nexus agreed to teach Ace Fuuinjutsu. Ace stayed learning under the devil for 1 long year, mastering the sealing arts and other forms of ninjutsu. However once completing Ace left, as quick as possible. As Ace stumbled down the mountain he came across a man named Kyle. Kyle and Ace fought for many hours ending in Aces defeat. Kyle stood above him with the sage mode activated and a kunai at Ace's throat. Ace looked up and said in astonishment and asked, ''You are the first man to hit me in 5 years. Before you kill me I would like to know, how did you do this when my body is made of fire?", Kyle looked down and replied "I am one of the toad sages of mount Myobokuzan the technique I used to hit you is called frog katas, though that will be explained to you at another time. And who said I will not kill you, today anyway.". To Ace's astonishment Kyle picked him up and reverse summoned the two of them to the toad mountain. There Ace met a man called Tomi. Together with Tomi ace started his sage training however as they were first beginning Ace was called back to the mist by his step-grandfather, Emperor. Ace bowed apologetically and left vowing to return to learn from the sages again.
When Ace returned to the mist he sparred at first with his grandfather, who was now the daimiyo of Kirigakure. Once done Emperor decided to give Ace a mission. Assasinate the rogue ninja, Ali, who held the sword Kagutsuchi of the seven swords of the mist. Ace accepted and once again set out.
Ace met Ali at a river in the outskirts of Konohakagure, both agreed they didn't likt the terrain and changed locations. The fight went on for 5 long days, both ninja showing their mastery of fire and taijutsu knowledge, for Ali too learned from the gates masters and it turned out Ali was the one who assassinated his former teachm Dark Sage. Outraged by the news Ace charged forward using his signiture technique "Fire fist", a combination of taijutsu and fire where the user runs forward and punches releasing huge amounts of fire, a deadly technique. Catching Ali off guard and finally ending the fight. Ace walked over to the half dead body of Ali and took the kagutsuchi daggers just before he picked up the daggers Ali grabbed Ace's hand and Ace realized Ali was holding a great sword. Ali spoke his last words, "Take it and harness its power.".
When Ace awoke he was in a Konoha hospital sitting next to his bed was an old friend, Riku. admiring the 2 daggers. Ace immidiatley grabbed the sword and looked sternly at riku, after 3 seconds of staring the ninja smiled and hugged for the reuinion. Ace stayed in konoha for a month to recover. Once healed Ace returned to Kirigakure.
On his way back Ace pulled out the sword and learned its power. The sword was a sword of the element Ali was famed for creating, hellfire. Ace trained with the sword for 2 months prolonging his return to kiri and training with the sword. Ace mastered the great power of hellfire later becoming the new sage of fire. One day Ace came across an old friend named Kaos. Together with Ace kaos invented an element called divine wind. By sending an electrical current through the wind the element was created. They made extremely powerful jutsu capable of leveling entire villages with a single blast. Once they finished the element another old friend of Ace's came by, Kyle. Kyle originally came to fetch up ace and bring him back to Mount Myobokuzan however seeing him with Kaos he decided to train Ace in another new element, Raging Thunder. It seemed that Kaos and Kyle created an element of their own called raging thunder. An extremely powerful lightning based element. After another 2 months of training Ace decided he would prolong his return to kiri altogether and head to Mount myokokuzan.
Upon his return Ace trained once again with tomi and kyle mastering the art of sage mode and all the great toad techniques. Where upon Ace said goodbye to Kyle and Tomi and decided it was time he return to kiri. Before he got to kiri he was ambushed by a young but extremely good looking girl named Liliana. Foolishly Lili tried to defeat Ace in hand to hand combat which is one of Ace's specialities. Ace was greatly impressed with the girls hand to hand combat ability and agreed to take her as his student in the Eight Inner Gates. As they both traveled back to Kirigakure Ace trained Lili excessively in taijutsu and before they reached Kirigakure they had already started opening the Eight Inner Gates.
After returning Ace stayed and fought for Kiri for 5 years, completing Liliana's training and even taking on some more students. A few years later though Ace recieved an invitation from Izuna Uchiha, a fellow swordsmen and gates master, to go rogue like his father with the other wielders of the seven swords of the mist.
A few years after Ace left he had an encounter with the Mizukage who punished him by giving him a curse mark, the heaven curse mark. Little did Alucard know that Ace would master the curse mark and all he succeeded in doing was increasing Ace's strength to an even greater degree.
One fateful day Ace met up with his step-grandfather Emperor and Emperor told him about his father, Gol D. Zanji. Ace was enraged at the news and changed his name from Gol D. Ace to Portgas D. Ace after his mother, whome held him in her womb for 20 months in order to protect him from the ninja searching for the offspring of Gol D. Zanji.

description: This technique is a technique Ace uses to turn his body into fire. By focusing his fire chakra out of all pours he can turn his body to fire at will. By doing so he doesn't have the actual appearence of fire, at first it isn't noticable however when an object say, a kunai, passes through him it will just sail through him and you will see the fire reforming his body. B/c of this all Ace's fire jutsu naturally become stronger where all his water and wind become weaker. He is also immune to elements such as earth, wind, which would just blow him away and allow him to reform without taking damage, and fire itself. While he is obviously weak to all techniques strong against fire.

Ace is the weilder of the daggers Kagutsuchi.
Ali allowed me hellfire usage as well as the hellfire sword.
When ace activates his haven curse mark a red glow appears off his body as well as having the same transformation as Sasuke. His fire also appears to be much darker than normal.
Tiajutsu/Speed/Strength -
Being an Eight Inner Gates Master Ace's speed, Strength, And overall taijutsu can be compared to Maito Gai. Furthermore Because he is so skilled in taijutsu by just looking at his opponents feet he can easily predict every movement they are going to make
Fire Affinity -
Ace is highly skilled with the element of fire. So skilled in fact that all his fire jutsu move far faster than then the average fire jutsu. For example if Ace were to spit a fireball it would move to the target much faster then a normal fireball. Furthermore Ace can preform fire jutsu so fast and consecutively that it appears as if he is firing multiple fire jutsu at once.
Chakra Control -
Being a sage Ace's chakra control is on a whole other level. He can perform jutsu at extreme speeds one after the other. Even if they are of opposite elements.
Hand Signs -
Being a sage Ace's hand signs are extremely fast. So fast in fact that only 3 tomo sharingan can predict them.
