I have been annoyed by a lot of things in the past, but here are a couple I can remember.

1. This whole Jason Collins thing. I'm sorry if this is rude, but I couldn't care less if there is a gay player in the NBA. The way people are calling him a hero and praising his courage is baffling. The media has been begging for a professional sports player to go public about being gay for a long time now. Anybody who did this was signing up for a lot of publicity- a lot good publicity. Why good? Because if anybody says anything negative, they are slammed for being homophobic.

A couple examples- There was an NFL player who tweeted a joke like "I respect Jason Collins for being true to himself, but I don't know why people want to be gay. There are so many beautiful women in the world!" He was immediately slammed by the media, called homophobic, had to delete the tweet, and both him and his nfl team apologized for him being "insensitive."

Then there was an (I believe) ESPN reporter. He was asked the question, on air, "What is your personal opinion about Jason Collins being gay?" He answered truthfully by saying something like, "I respect Jason Collins as a player and a person, but I'm a christian and being gay is against my beliefs." He was also slammed for being homophobic and people immediately began calling for him to be fired.

I just find it ironic that people who are fighting for gay rights- who are literally fighting for people to accept their beliefs- refuse to accept beliefs that go against theirs. This is coming from someone that has no problem with gay people, and think they should have equal rights.

2. Feminism! This drives me insane. How this is still relevant, I don't know. It's getting to the point where males are the disadvantaged ones. My head literally blows when some women say things like, "I broke up with my boyfriend because I don't think he has the means to support me."

My reaction: you have fought for equal job opportunities and equal rights, but still you think you should be catered to! Most women, in my experience, still believe that it's up to their husbands to support them. You might say it's because they have to care for their children, but a lot of women don't have or even want children! And yet they still think they should sit back and be cared for! Also, I see women give this piece of dating advice all the time- "If he doesn't pay for the meal at a restaurant, he's rude and you should dump him! Don't even consider paying for half!" Oh my god. Kill me.

3. When people call heavier women "real women." If you look at an article with models in it, the comment section is always filled with people saying, "Eww! Look at those sticks! I prefer women who have more meat on their bones." It amazes me that people shun skinny women who make an attempt at being healthy, dismissing them as "fake", and then praise heavier women as being "real". What they don't understand is that not every skinny woman has an eating disorder, and throw up after every meal to shed the pounds. Some people actually have something called a "fast metabolism." People think they are taking the moral "high ground" by praising heavy women, but all they are doing is being insulting and ignorant.

I know, I'm crying, right? But I think these are pretty legitimate points.

What annoys you?

2. Friends isn't the best show ever.

3. 2 Chainz and Chief Keef are good rappers.

4. Professional athletes aren't overpayed.

I just find it ironic that people who are fighting for gay rights- who are literally fighting for people to accept their beliefs- refuse to accept beliefs that go against theirs. This is coming from someone that has no problem with gay people, and think they should have equal rights.

There was this exact notion in the 1960s with Civil Rights for other ethnicities. Equality for homosexuals is now evolving to be exactly like the past where people just did not enjoy the thought of other ethnicities marrying other ethnicities, or just Caucasians, because it was in their beliefs. Can you see the problem with this argument, now? It should be wrong when people make fun of sexuality. Not that the tweets given were necessarily making fun of homosexuality, of course.

2. Feminism! This drives me insane. How this is still relevant, I don't know. It's getting to the point where males are the disadvantaged ones. My head literally blows when some women say things like, "I broke up with my boyfriend because I don't think he has the means to support me."

I half agree with you, but men and women are all different. Women should be equals with Men, but they aren't respecting their own notions if they push even farther than is equal.

*nods* Since men and women are different and have their own tastes, it should be a given that the skinny and the stocky should be equal. So there are people that have their preferences: this isn't wrong; we can't take this as being prejudiced against the other party.

I agree man. I can't stand that some people can't just accept that people want to live their lives differently, for example Homosexuals, who have every right to choose how they live their life.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's right to make fun of homosexuals. I was referring more to the fact that if anybody says anything that doesn't praise gay people, they are shunned and ridiculed. Obviously if you're someone that is homophobic for no reason, and openly insult homosexuals, that's wrong. But I have no problem with someone not believing homosexuality is right, without being antagonistic, for a reason such as religion.

I agree with everything you said man. You hit the nail on the head, especially with the feminism part of your thread.

thanks. another point about feminism is that women fought for the right to join the military, and now can, but aren't required to sign up for the draft. you don't hear many feminist's angry over that "inequality." why would they? it benefits them.

That feminism part is something I completely agree on. If women want equality then that means they should disown any special treatment you would expect a woman to get.

" Feminism is equality for both sexes by focusing on only one of them"
