It was said in the manga somewhere that Itachi was able to keep AKATSUkI off Konoha ALONE. And I do recall a chapter (after Itachi's death) where Madara was talking to Zetsu about how relieved he was now that Itachi was no longer there to hinder his plans...
Well...that aside...
I like Jiraiya ( damn Pain! but I liked the Akatsuki leader too)...I liked and still like Itachi (damn that Sasuke! )...but let's face it...
Itachi was just too fast, too clever, and too strong...
This thread says both have to fight at full power?...
Look at Itachi's battle with Sasuke and imagine him at full power...
Itachi is one step...one LONG step...above Jiraiya in every aspect...I would say it's...fitting to say that Jiraiya would have lasted a bit longer ( just a bit )in a battle against Itachi than Naruto would have back then...

itachi would have won. Jiraya was killed by pain and itachis ocular jutsu is stronger than the rinnegan, tskyomi, amaterasu and susanoo. jiraya would have been raped, if they fought against each other it would have been one hell of a fight, jiraya is strong, but itachi is stronger

Well that would mean he would be even stronger at full power(He was dying of disease when he was fighting Sasuke). Black Zetsu who is the more knowledgeable side of Zetsu said that Itachi was completely invincible with his legendary items. And you do not know whether or not he used Susano once or not, unless you are saying that he was able to form a perfect form susano right away on his first try.

i think it would of been mentioned if he had used it more than once dude i mean he could of been training to do susano but to use it in battle i think that was his first time

thats incorrect because orochimaru and jiraya have the same relationship that naruto and sasuke have. so thats the only reason why jiraya didnt kill orochimaru.

ok i get that u have ur own opining u should not get mad because some of this people think that itachi is invincible and untouchable i could say the same for jiraiya but we all know he died ppl jst have their own opinings and i think u should jst respect their ideas regardless if their ideas are not as good as other greater ideas

Its true that these 2 characters are pretty strong and equally idolized by many.Logically, in the end if ever Naruto would beat up Sasuke in manga, we could assume Jiraiya will be the victor against Itachi...
But Sharingan is quite an intriguing technique, that is why i think in the manga, the clan was brutally terminated... imagine that there will be a large group of ninjas that has the same strength and talent as what Itachi or Sasuke have... it is a big threat to all. As we all know besides Danzos selfish acts of conspiracy which lead to the clans destruction, he himself desires to have such great power...
I prefer Jiraiya to win... with great experience, he might still have more tricks on his sleeves...
But Sharingan user, I still don't know how can it be beaten by anyone else... (correct me if i'm wrong...)
They only show, fellow uchiha clan ninjas killing each other to gain more power or what...
