This Thread isn't about making a change or something, but just discussing the title of the thread.

The Party System

We were discussing about political corruption in my college class today. And what i came to the conclusion of, and what some of my other friends disagreed with is that , we should have listened to George Washington.

President Washington's quote:
[h=1]“However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”[/h]

And when we look at our reality in America, it is very true, that our politics has now become a "proffesional politics" or "business politics". Its not the way it was intended to be. And hell if we have the right to chose anyone we want as president, why are we mainly limited to 2 choices. Now hell you can say " no Paulay, there are other choices for president also".. but the fact who cares about them?

If you aren't a republican or a democrat you basically have close to 0 political power in our system. We have the "Taylor Machines" (Reference to Mr.Smith Goes to Washington movie :p). That are telling our politicians what to do. Countless politcians waste money on their campaigns instead of dealing with the problems of society. We need to BUY votes now a days. Instead getting them because we are right. This is sad and pathetic.

So as far as I'm concerned our "Party system" has ruined America's politics. Now many of you will say that Thomas Jefferson disagreed with Washington, and then resigned he post.. that is true. However, Thomas Jefferson is the same guy who said this about Washington:

  • [*=center]"That your appearance among them I say would restore full confidence of salvation, and would render them equal to whatever is not impossible."
[*=center]"In war we have produced a Washington whose memory will be adored while liberty shall have votaries, whose name shall triumph over time, and will in future ages assume its just station among the most celebrated worthies of the world.''
[*=center]His mind was great and powerful, without being of the very first order … the strongest feature in his character was prudence, never acting until every circumstance, every consideration, was maturely weighed; refraining if he saw a doubt, but, when once decided, going through with his purpose, whatever obstacles opposed. His integrity was most pure, his justice the most inflexible I have ever known, no motives of interest or consanguinity, of friendship or hatred, being able to bias his decision. He was, indeed, in every sense of the words, a wise, a good, and a great man.... t may truly be said, that never did nature and fortune combine more perfectly to make a man great, and to place him in the same constellation with whatever worthies have merited from man an everlasting remembrance. For his was the singular destiny and merit, of leading the armies of his country successfully through an arduous war, for the establishment of its independence; of conducting its councils through the birth of a government, new in its forms and principles, until it had settled down into a quiet and orderly train ..."

Some people have chosen to say that George Washington's education was the equivalent of today's 8th grade.. come on now man. This is sad and pathetic. So I take sides with the Father of the Country on this one. That we shouldn't have gone with the political party system.

What side do you take?

Specialization of a Group

( I am Samoan/Meixcan/Indian.) Race is an another huge factor when it comes to the corruption of our political system. America has hardly any unity when it comes to "races". We have Obama as the president why? Because he was the first African-American to run for president.. nothing else. Him and Romney are literally the same people when it comes to politics. Only difference is race.

See American citizens buy into this race separation. The Government has chosen to separate us by races. If a specific race is on welfare or food stamps, and the government gives them more wel-fare and food stamps, they'll gladly vote for that party. Why? Because we keep buying into our politicians "divide and rule" agenda.

Help out the farmers and give them some money.. buy their votes. Increase the taxes.. and the teacher salary goes high, buy their votes.

And yet we dare to talk about why we don't have equality? rofl.

Conclusion

Man America is in such a sad state at the moment its not even funny. We fail to realize it because it probably doesn't affect us. But for someone who has loved his country and have had people die on the battlefield for his country, it has a big meaning to that person.

  • [*=center]You know a country is corrupt, when the idols of the kids are talking about ***/Drugs/Prostitution/getting Money illegally.
[*=center]You know a country is corrupt, when families hardly have any value.
[*=center]You know a country is corrupt, when it has people doing something else compared to what they said.
[*=center]You know a country is corrupt, when someone thinks superior of themselves, and insults others because they disagree with their opinion.
[*=center]You know a country is corrupt, when people know their rights but fail to understand their responsibility.
Now I would like your opinion on this, and what you have to say for your country's corruption. I am really interested in knowing. Thank you.

The citizens of America have lost responsibility for their actions.

The judicial system is so ****ed up, it almost serves no purpose other than suing people for money.

Yup, and its sad & Pathetic. I love how people look for scapegoats for what their own fault is. Some Americans want to blame immigrants and so on. But fail to realize that the problem aren't immigrants its the people who are running the country.

We have too many unloyal citizens. People here don't take their freedom for granted. Or don't take what they have for granted.

Our kids carry around $500 cell-phones.. while others in the world don't even have $1 slippers..

Another thing is that freedom they seem to "enjoy".

Im pretty sure lots of European countries have citizens that enjoy plenty of freedom and nothing similar to the american situation occurs.

So its either that something is wrong with America, or Europe.

Pick your choice as long as you base that off on facts.

Small countries, with hardly any diversity compared to America. Big countries really can't follow their lead.

Im a supporter of democracy and freedom, but when this freedom turns chaotic, its not much of a good thing.
We have democracies established all over the world, but America seems to be different.

The united states of america have more annual intentional homicides than the combined intentional homicides of northern, southern, and western europe.

Because we have things like the Gangs/Drug Cartel. And so on.

Even the suicide rates in America starting to rise fast.

Cause one of them applies to you = non-sense.

If the Truth = non-sense. Then the people = BS i guess.

Because you are hurt. So what you are telling me is that someone who talks about politics like this just happens to start college, and can't be in it for 2-3 years? oh really? Another example of ignorance and arrogance.

However, our goal is that perfection. Just because no country is perfect, does not mean we should accept it. Honestly the "powerful" countries that we claim to be powerful really aren't powerful. Most of the political power of the world resides within weak countries of europe.

Its not the goal, and most people are in a illusion of comfort. Most Americans only care about their local governments because they feel like they have a say, the federal government isn't as welcoming and as dynamic based on the populous. That is a fact. Local governments are fine the federal needs to be more abrasive of its citizens, and there also needs to be some kind of inclusion not simply voting but a more detailed view of the government.
