When I'm bored and playing Pokemon - or when I sit out to write the rare Pokemon fanfic - I always think about the world around the Pokemon universe. How there are so many different trainers, regions, thoughts, etc. I was wondering - what sort of trainer would everyone be if they were placed in these games?

Would they be in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova/Isshu, or some unknown region?
Would they be the type that's an average trainer, a gym leader, a ranger, an elitist, involved in criminal organizations, or something different all-together?
What would their team be like? Varied, a particular type, a particular theme (green pokemon, dog-like pokemon, human-like pokemon, etc), a particular goal (team based around catching pokemon, team based around finding/catching legendaries, etc).
If they were a gym leader or Elitist, what would their personal theme be? Team based on particular types or a team based on particular stats?

Personally, I think I'd be a mid-level gym leader for poison types.
6 Pokemon - Roughly leveled 44 to 46.
Haunter
Drapion
Crobat
Roselia
Nidoking
Toxicroak

Or as an elitist (elite 4 member), my specialty would be around electric-types. Though I'd probably be the first member in the line up due to the severe weakness to ground-type attacks. With exception of two, a fast Pokemon with Earthquake would just destroy my team.
Jolteon
Electabuzz
Luxray
Eelektross
Zebstrika
Galvantula

Not into most of those questions. But I am paartially to Dragon type pokemon myself. I carried my Dragonite from red to yellow to silver to crystal. And since then Ive re-created the exact same dragonite, move set and all in all my pokemon games.

Dragonite
Salemence
Charizard (shiny)
Latios
Tyranitar
Rayquaza

lol, i think i would be elite 4 member with water pokes, i think i would be 2nd, as my pokemons got only 2 weaknesses:
Blastoise
Quagsire (must be poke for water team)
Whiscash (must be poke for water team)
Slowbro
Gyarados
Milotic (ACE of the team)

or elite with electric too, but i would be 2nd or 3rd in line, but my team would be different:
Jolteon (incredible speed)
Electabuzz
Lanturn
Luxray
Electrode (one of the fastest pokemons ever i think)
Electrivire (ACE of the team)

or i would be fire elite, i love these guys, 1st one to go cause of big disadvantage, my team:
Charizard
Infernape
Arcanine (with thunder fang of course)
Magmortar
Rapidash or Typhlosion (not sure which one)
Blaziken (ACE of the team)

Raichu
Pigiot

One of the best teams you can't build a team around a type you'll get you ass handed to you when it comes to your pokemon's weakness

First, Clefable can be a beast if you raise one the right way. I used one in PKMN Red so long ago.

Second, I think the purpose of gym leaders isn't necessarily to be unbeatable. After all in most games it's possible for them to have lost twice in a row - back to back. I've never seen a gym leader just punish the player's friend/rival. I think the purpose of the gym leader is to test the growth of the trainers. Meaning the battle is only a formal thing, but just because someone wins the battle, they don't necessarily have to be given the badge (look at what's-her-name in the Johto games who refused to give the player the eighth gym badge because she considered the victory a fluke). This is why I think it's ok for gym leaders to specialize in one type of Pokemon. Because with that mind-frame, if a trainer can't defeat a set of pokemon of one specific type, then they aren't worth the gym badge.

Now the Leader can go about varied ways with this. Like my poison-type idea, the Haunter would be easy pickings for psychic-types (which would most likely be the most-used type against the gym) but it'd give way for Drapion who'd punish said psychic-type.
Crobat would act as air support to counter ground-types used against Drapion and Nidoking would be used to punish electric-types used against Crobat. Roselia would be used against the water or ground-type used against Nidoking and the ACE of the team Toxicroak would merely be a last-resort if the trainer's gotten that far.
Not to mention I'd make use of their abilities and most whom have a wide range of moves available through TMs/HMs.

That's just on that scale. I'm not saying the team's unbeatable and perhaps could even be swept through with an Alakazam (except against Drapion).

As an average trainer, I'd definitely have a varied team.. most likely...
Houndoom
Vaporeon
Luxray or Zebstrika
Ursaring
Sigilyph
Scizor or Aggron
With the use of TMs, this is a team capable of learning moves that would be an advantage of all 17-types. Sure they'd have their own weakness, but I'm sure a good/smart trainer would work around them.

ok, you want my team on silver? here you go and it was said what trainer you would be, not what team you got

Alakazam (i think he was fastest poke in Y/R/B, maybe electrode was faster, but not really sure)
Mewtwo
Charizard
Typhlosion
Mr.Mime (my 1st poke on lv 100, with him i defeated whole elite 4 + gary when he was 70 +/- 3lvs i think)
Blastoise (my ACE, he has confusion, cause his father was golduck)

all are lv 100
