I won't use one of my bios, I'll just RP as Shinta. A Medical Shinobi from the Hidden Rain Village, wearing a standard Shinobi attire with a White lab coat over-top.

In preparation for his Students lesson, Shinta had copied out a summary of the course material, from the , on the Chalk Board on the front wall of the room.

Souzou Dokubutsu (Poison Creation)

Just as there are many naturally occurring substances that can be combined in order to heal, there are many naturally occurring substances that can be used to harm. Using your knowledge of plants and minerals you are able to mix together a variety of drugs and poisons that can range from disabling to deadly.

The principle behind it is the same as behind , with a Poison needing the same components (Active Ingredients & Solvents/Mediums). The only change is that a Medicine is intended to help heal and treat a patient and a Poison is intented to harm him or her.

There are two aspects to consider here:
 • Canon Poison techniques and Poisons
 • Custom Poison creation
The end result of this class is basically allowing enough knowledge on how to correctly use canon poisons and how to create your own poison. More than specifics, as the principles are already explained in the Medicine Creation class, we'll be talking about limits and definition of what you can do and how you can do it for a custom poison.

So, Canon Poison Techniques?

Ok, we will start dissecting all the techniques currently available as well as all canon poisons. One thing to note, however, is that there is a difference between Poison Ninjutsu and a Poison. Poison Ninjutsu or Dokuton/Doku is the ability to shape, mold and transform your chakra into harmful substances that you create and use to attack your enemies. Poisons are substances you create with herbs and other substances, mixing them together, and carry with you to poison your tools, weapons and even taint your usage of Poison Ninjutsu. They are both linked but are different.

Now, Poison Ninjutsu will always create the poison substance defined in the technique. When someone creates a Poison Ninjutsu technique, he or she will create a technique that uses chakra to create a substance that is only used in that technique and has specific effects. This poison cannot poison weapons, tools, anything. Its simply created by the technique to do its job and thats it. Its bound by the technique.

What about Custom Poisons?

As a medical ninja you are given the knowledge and ability to create your own unique poisonous substance by mixing various other substances together. This unique substance can be used to poison weapons, tools, etc. It can't be manipulated with existing canon poison techniques but you can make techniques to manipulate it. You'll always need a small quantity of it with you to use these techniques however, and it needs to be defined and stated in your bio that your weapons are poisoned with the substance.

How do I make a custom Poison?

Well, same way you make a Medicine really. You need active ingredients and a medium/solvent. You mix it together to create a given substance you can then use to poison enemies.

You need to use this template

PHP:
Name Of Poison
Creator:
Type:(neurological, intestinal, cardiac etc.)
Ingredients and Background:
Description of Effects:
As such, your poison will need a name. Well, duh! And a creator...You! It will also fall within a given "type". This pertains to what it will actually affect in your enemy. Will it affect his mind and nerves? His muscles? His ionic balance? His coagulation? His breathing? His heart? Etc etc. After that, you need to describe what the ingrdients in it are, what they do and how all of it mixes together to create your poison. You need to define in this section what your poison actually looks like (is it a poweder, a solid, a liquid, a gas, what color is it, etc) and what can affect it and how (will it evaporate under heat? will it become faster acting with cold? etc etc). Finally, we come to the description of Effects. In this section you need to describe a list of effects, from the first one to appear (normally, the mildest symptom/effect comes first) and the progression of effects until the ultimate one, followed by a list which describes how long it takes for a poisoned individual to start feeling each effects (in a timely sequence), depending on how he was poisoned (a liquid for example can poison through skin contact, ingestion or injection but each of these methods will induce the poisoning effects in different timings) and any other information needed in terms of effects and symptoms of the poisoning.

As his student would enter the small, teaching room, Shinta would begin the lesson. Ah, welcome! You've chosen one of the more popular specialities available to the Medical Shinobi. Shinta would point to the title of on the board. Souzou Dokubutsu, otherwise known as Poison Creation or more specifically in terms of the Jutsu you'll learn, Dokuton: Poison Release. Shinta paused for a moment as he made eye-contact with his student. Have a read through the material on the board, make notes if you wish... though all this can be found in your Medical School Handbook you received at your induction to this school. When you're ready, you can ask me any questions you might have and I'll attempt to answer them... otherwise, we will get started on the crux of this lesson. Shinta addressed his student in a calm and authoritative tone, clasping his hands gently together in front of his abdomen at the conclusion of his speech.

Yu Han Sung enters the room, visibly eager to learn more about poison. He could never be certain as to why he gravitated towards it.. but his interest in the substance and its Ninjutsu was boundless. The other two specialties simply didn't matter to him, not in the slightest bit. The fact that the one he'd chosen was also quite popular with his medical colleagues was similarly irrelevant. When Shinta-sensei made eye contact with him, he hoped that his mentor could see just how much a lesson like this really meant to him. There was no doubt that he'd give it his best effort..

"No questions at this time. And thank you, once again," he says after scrutinizing the material for a long while.

Shinta could see how eager and excited Yu Han Sung was just from a brief glimpse of eye contact and how He meticulously looked over every note of the material presented. This was promising, a training that Shinta could possibly have some fun in; with only a slight chance of severe poisoning.
Excellent! Shinta would exclaim as he tossed a bucket of water over the chalkboard, removing every legible note on it and leaving in its place a smear of wet chalk. Not sure why I did that... but moving on. Shinta would clear his throat and straighten his lab coat before continuing.
So poisons themselves can be utilised in one of two ways; in a liquid state and a gaseous state. They each have different applications in battle and each interact differently with the basic five elements. Your job? What are the benefits and differences in using liquid or gas poison and what are the elemental strengths and weaknesses of each?

Hmm.. poison in liquid and gas states.. Yu Han Sung begins to ponder each question that'd been asked by Shinta-sensei. "Well, I'd imagine that poison in its liquid state is a bit more potent, at least relative to its gas counterpart. And with a liquid, such things can harm another via ingestion, injection, and skin contact. Provided that there is enough of the liquid around, the attacks can also have great blunt force behind them, much like very many Suiton techniques tend to have. In addition, both liquid poison and Suiton are strong against Fire and weak against Earth. The difference, here, is that the former is also weak to the latter.. Now, as for a gaseous state, the intent is oft to have a target inhale the poison. Due to its state of matter being a gas, such attacks can have greater volume as they'll expand to fill whatever is its environment. Unlike in the former state, it is strong against Lightning, but weak to Wind as like any other gas, it can easily be blown away or scattered."

Very good, you seem to know Dokuton well... I suppose that's why you pursued this path of study. Shinta stated as he placed a small vial, containing a gaseous poison on the table beside him.

Type: Neurological
Description and Effects: Med nin with poison specialty are able to produce a incredibly potent poison, which is capable of making the entirety of a victim's body numb just moments after inhalation and may eventually prove fatal. This toxin causes partial paralysis after exposure, reducing the victim's movement and reaction speeds by 25%. After 4 turns untreated, this will result in near total paralysis as the victim loses almost complete motor control. Will cause death 6 turns after exposure due to suffocation.

Symptoms are:
1: Difficulty breathing, loss of balance. Effects take place after 1 turn.
2: Dizziness and mental disability; their mind becomes hazed as do the senses. Inability to perform 4 or more handseals or complex techniques. Diminished reactions and speed reduced by 25%. Effects take place after 2 turns.
3: Near complete paralysis: The target becomes almost fully paralyzed, moving at 75% their speed and their reactions reduced at the same level. Effects take place after 4 turns.
4: Death: Muscles as well as organs shut down, the nerve response from the body fully gone as they suffocate, unable to breath. Effects take place after 6 turns.

In this vial, is a highly concentrated amount of the standard Medical Toxin you acquire from taking this course. Your notes (Reference Jutsu Tag above) should include a detailed explanation of how the poison works and how to produce it for yourself. If you have nothing to ask about this we shall move onto some Dokuton Jutsu: some of which work well with this gaseous toxin.

Yu Han Sung takes his time with examining the vial of poison, while also making sure to jot down notes. And, after a while, he concludes that he has recorded all of the requisite info he needs. "I believe I'm ready to continue on," he declares, with his focus now returning to Shinta-sensei. "I can't wait to see how this poison will compare with Dokuton."

Then I guess we should get started. Kenshin takes out a scroll of , detailing specifics and requirements for each technique to follow. To start with, you will find the first technique is a gaseous based technique of a relatively mild poison. The you will need to create the anaesthetising poison in your mouth, using your chakra and expel it in a gaseous state. Kenshin would chuckle slightly as adds a final note to this technique. I would say you could try it on myself, however you will find I have a trained immunity to these techniques... or at least the poison effects of these techniques. Something you will acquire with time as well.

Rank: C-Rank
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: N/A
Description: A technique where the user breathes forth a stream of poison. The poison itself wont do any outside damage, but when hitting against a body it flows into the opponents pores or lungs. The smoke itself is a slight paralysis, hindering speed and agility for two turn by 3 ranks.

I realize it's low-rank Dokuton, but this just effectively robs people of a taijutsu master speed perk and only for a very brief duration. For it be more viable, it'd need to induce a fully body paralysis or carry with it some other sort of detrimental long-term effects. The one good thing about this technique is that it doesn't require any handseals and in addition, no real preparatory gestures at all. For what it's worth, this technique could maybe be a more optimal version of the moves that make smokescreens and the like, but little more than that. So, my question is: how dense is the stream, and is it enough to also potentially blind the victim?

These poison techs, I like to believe are a dense purple colour in nature, being dense enough/opaque enough that you wouldn't be able to see through the mist. So you would be able to use this to temporarily blind a target, though the poison in the eyes wouldn't be able to permanently blind a target for more than a few moments; almost like what would happen if someone blows smoke in your eyes.

(Dokuton: Hei no Doku Jutsu) - Dokuton: Wall of Poison Technique
Rank: B-Rank
Type: Defensive
Range:Short
Chakra Cost:20
Damage Points:N/A
Description: A technique used when an opponent is rushing towards the user, bringing forth a veil of poison mist in which the opponent will end up running through. When passing through the poison, the opponent will experience no sensation at all. However, once the enemy passes through it he will be poisoned. The effects are a mild numbness to the targets senses (blurred vision, hissing sound, skin numbness, etc) and momentary disorientation for 2 turns.

So I find the wording of this jutsu a little odd, something that I should bring up with someone to get the wording clarified.

Regardless, this is a defensive wall of poison mist, that once your target runs through it will cause the poisoning described above. It'll basically cause your target, if they run through it, to stagger over with the dizziness that would come from; blurred vision, hissing sound and numbness of the poison.

and now a better poison mist technique.

(Dokuton: Dokugakure Kiri no Jutsu) -Dokuton: Hidden Poison Mist Technique
Rank: B-Rank
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 20 (-5 per turn to keep active, opponent suffers 20*X chakra point loss per turn, being X the number of turns exposed)
Damage Points: N/A (10*X per turn, being X the number of turns exposed)
Description: A technique based off of the Kirigakure no Jutsu. The user will do an unorthodox handseal (slamming both clenched fists together, palms facing down) and releases his chakra throughout the atmosphere. This chakra will copy a poison in the users possession and produce it in the atmosphere through the users chakra and the moisture all around. This creates a plethora of poison mist that very quickly fills up the area. It not only blocks off the view of the opponent, but also surrounds them by a dense poison mist which, if absorbed through the skin or breathed, is then used to drain the opponents chakra and health.

This one requires you to have your own poison, specifically one that has a gaseous state (will be written in the specific poisons jutsu description), however I'm not sure if that means this jutsu adds a chakra drain to your poison mist, or in the absence of your own poison will allow it to just be a chakra draining mist. Costs a bit of chakra and has a unique hand seal that can cause it to become recognisable if used multiple times, though the chakra drain per turn may deter multiple uses.
Of course, wind will easily dispel this jutsu so maybe best to set this up in a closed off area.

Another dull technique, one which I kinda wish would be merged with the C-rank Dokuton to make it at least a little bit better. The effects that this produces are, overall, rather lackluster and not really worth the chakra expenditure. Unsure as to how disorientated the victim would get, although as it only lasts up to two turns, it's going to be all that useful anyways. What specifically about the wording of this canon technique did you find to be odd? I am able to make edits within reason.

As for the second technique, it seems to be much more viable. Of course, one can always find a way to use their poison without a chakra cost instead of using this. Still, seeing as this not only surrounds the target (with reach up to long-range), but also leeches the victim's chakra, it certainly has its uses. And just having to put one's fists together to perform the technique isn't bad at all. Overall, easily the best of the three we've covered so far. Note: I do believe that the given chakra draining is applicable either way.

Thanks for your view on the chakra draining part xD

Let's just push through the last few B-ranks.

(Dokuton: Kurote no Jutsu) - Poison Release: Black Hand Skill
Rank: B-Rank
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: N/A
Description: A technique where the user can transmit a special poison through an open wound. This jutsu is normally used close range, where the user shoves their hand forward and shove it into an opponents open wound. The opponents hands will turn black and become stiff and unable to perform Jutsu while the technique is active (lasts 2 turns if its not deactivated). The users chakra will infect the enemy with a poison which will instantly paralyze him. The effects can only be reversed by a medical ninja by removing the poison and administering the antidote. However, the technique is useless unless the user can target an open wound.

A jutsu that requires clone contact, so close that you actually need to insert a part of your hand into an open wound for this to take effect. The poison instantly paralyses as your chakra is directly pumped into the targets cardiovascular system. Your target will remain paralysed until a medical ninja removes the poison and treats them.

(Dokuton: Shinkei Douin no Jutsu) - Poison Release: Nerve Agent Technique
Rank: B-Rank
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-mid
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user performs the needed handseal (Clap hands), while inhaling, and releases out a yellow fog from mouth. The special poison is a nerve agent designed to affect the motor nerves and muscles which is achieved by altering the users own saliva and respiratory secretions and giving it the needed qualities. As the poison touches the pores of an opponent that particular area of the body will begin to experience random and severe muscle spasms. The spams progress and make it rather hard to perform handseals, using projectiles, taijutsu, etc. The symptons increase for 3 turns, at the end of which the target will be almost in a seizure-like state. After that, the effect wears off instantly and the target regains control over their musculatory system.

Using your chakra to alter your saliva and chakra into the needed poison, you'll release it in a similar way to any mist/gaseous jutsu. I think the description covers what I need to say, though do ask any questions about it.

(Dokuton: Mahi Doku Bakuha no Jutsu)- Poison Release: Paralysis Poison Blast Technique
Rank: B-Rank
Type: Offensive
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: N/A
Description: A technique that is based off somewhat on the Phoenix Flower Jutsu. The user exhales five blasts of poison after inhaling and doing the Hare handseal. In the center of these blasts of guey poison are poison smoke bombs that the user threw at the same time, both aspects of the technique containing the same poison, albeit in different forms (liquid and mist). Upon impact, the liquid poison will enter the targets pores, being absorbed through the skin, causing high levels of physical pain (albeit no damage) while the poison bombs will detonate the mist, which, if inhaled, will cause motor paralyzation (1 turn).

For this, you'll throw poison-smoke bombs as you spit out a viscous, poison liquid. Both are forms of the same poison that cause paralysis.

So, not the easiest technique to pull off, but still pretty neat. Really suitable for CQC fighters, and it can be used in tandem with Taijutsu moves that don't require any chakra expenditure. Not much else to say; it's good, but situational.

A decent one here, mostly because it can really mess with the victim should they not handle it quickly enough. Of course, it's got a distinct color and is fog-like, so the foe should be able to make use of things like Fūton to blow away the Dokuton move. Also wish that the turn-by-turn effects were expanded upon, as I don't know to what degree the spams actually increase over the course of three turns until they reach an almost seizure-like state, which then abruptly ends.

The last one is pretty lame, to be honest. The liquid poison manages to cause pain, but fails to inflict real damage. Against a fair number of bios, this part essentially does nothing. The mist via smoke bombs is slightly better, but easy enough to counter and has no long-term consequences upon inhalation.

I do agree that some of these poisons should have a better turn by turn breakdown of the effects. Better definition for an ability that is now more easily accessible would prevent it from being abused, something that I guess used to be controlled by the sheer exclusivity of this ability.

(Doku Sōzō) Poison Creation
Type: Offensive
Rank: A-Rank
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 30
Damage: N/A (60 possible physical damage on impact, rest depends on the poison)
Description:
The user is able to take an existing sample of a given poison and manipulate it with his chakra, increasing is quantity and replicating it. Basically, much like one does with water release an a water source, the user is able to use a small sample of poison to, from it, create waves, projectiles, etc if the poison is liquid or a dust, clouds, gusts, mists, etc if the poison is a gas. This technique, however, cannot create poison out of nothing, only manipulate existing poison from a sample or source.
Note: the original sample or source needs to be within short range of the user.

Assuming you have a sample of poison on you, such as a puppeteers, medical or custom poison; you can use this to manipulate it to increase the quantity in order to use like a water jutsu (for example). If your poison sample is a gas, you can use it like any gas-based jutsu to create gusts or walls of poison; or if it is liquid you can use it to form waves or blasts of liquid poison.

(Dokuton: Soeki no Jutsu) - Poison Release: The Plague Technique
Rank: A-Rank
Type: Offensive
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: N/A (20*X per turn for 3 turns, X being the number of the turn in question)
Description: A technique which is a very deadly dokuton skill which can render even the strongest shinobi helpless with an extreme pain. By infusing highly concentrated poison chakra into one part of the persons body through direct contact, the poison begins to spread causing purple dots to appear all over the body. As they spread over the body, they constantly cause more and more pain as time goes on (lasts 3 turns). The effect is achieved by using the users chakra to create poison inside the enemy's cells through direct contact and using only the normal toxins and byproducts of the enemy's metabolism as source. The chakra will potentiate these toxins and multiply them, creating a cascading effect of increasing toxicity which can culminate in the enemy's death if he doesn't stop the spreading of the technique or receives treatment.
Note: Usable once every 4 turns

So, the jutsu covers the turn-by-turn effects pretty well. Just note this jutsu requires physical contact in order to work. You'll be using your chakra to target the natural toxins in your opponent to create a deadly poison that rapidly spreads through their body. Once you make the initial contact, your chakra will continue to create the poison in your targets body.

Seems to be quite useful, although the puppeteer's poison is (if I recall) less potent than the med toxin, which in turn is much less effective than most custom poisons. So the goal is probably to get a custom poison and take advantage of it that way. Still really neat, overall, as it lets us expand on our non-Dokuton poisons and manipulate them in ways we couldn't otherwise. This could also possibly be useful with some contracted species.

A little bit easier to pull off than Poison Release: Black Hand Skill and on top of that, is actually lethal. I do wish this had more effects to it than just causing pain, then death eventually. Not much else to say, as this would be pretty solid in CQC but unusable outside of that.
