No, getting larger targets could get the juubi to fire more bijuu damas, that's a real bad strategy since a single one can pretty much annihilate everything and everyone within range.

Well yeah, but it's not like Kishi knows when to do everything he probably came up with TSM in the recent fights against Juubito. (Almost like plot twists they are random at times)

My point is that having larger targets would make the juubi want to nuke them since it's easier than stomping them or killing them with wood projectiles like humans.

It was the entire konoha village vs 1 Kurama... and they still needed Minato to save their arses every time he tried to use a bijuu dama, they had no way to protect against that.

No they only used a small bijuu dama once again the larger targets (Naruto full bijuu mode and Hashibi) and it hit full bijuu mode naruto who lost 5 tails it one go.
They didn't want to conserve any chakra.

My point was the little summons are epic too. If your facing an enemy thats trying to completely obliterate you, why not go all out? Also hashirama summoning blocked bijuu dama numerous times, even hit a home run with one.

Hashirama is a special case he is the god of shinobi, how can you even compare him to the rest of the army ? Should I remaind you that his summon statue was larger than mountains ? it completely dwarfed Kurama full power...

Be realistic, even Obito confessed that they could kill everyone with just one bijju dama, but that Madara wouldn't do it since it would also kill obito (the real plot is why Obito wouldn't use kamui) bottom panel :
