From my findings, its kinda hard to believe that some leaf ninja are actually ninja. Like com'on, how the heck did weak ass ninjas like ebisu and iruka even pass the goddamn chounin exam in their time. Also there are two guys who almost got killed by that ninja ostrich, and they were chounin, so how on earth did they pass their exams? And if you noticed all of naruto's peer (currently), they would easily hand the asses of their masters to them (except maito guy)... So someone explain....

That's what normally happens in stories like these. They create a lot of high rank ninja but as the story goes on the kids get crazy power ups and all the irrelevant ninja get left behind. What was hyped before seems horrible now. It basically becomes unbalanced and strange in terms of power.
Yeah. There is a superb imbalance of power. Cuz hashirama and his peers were super strong then it sloped downwards to having weak ass peeps such ebisu.... Then we see naruto and his peers becoming "super-ninjas". The sudden spike in ninja techniques, knowledge and power is just unbelievable.
