However, there is more to earth release simple structures or entities. Earth Release is arguably the most versatile of the five basics. We’ve witnessed earth release manipulate the structural foundation of earth to change it from solid to a liquid (mud or swamps), convert it into sand, graval, manipulate alternative forms of earth like mud or certain metals/metallic like entities. There has also been manipulation of the physical earth itself, changing the structure of the earth, using shape manipulation to reconstruct and mold. There are countless possibilities of how earth can be used. Earth release also doesn’t just adhere to the manipulation of the earth itself. The earth nature within their own body allows them to create manifestations of earth out and around their bodies, essentially creating their own earth.

I see. Doton certainly is one of the most versatile elements. I also appreciate its apparent duality between destruction and creation (through manipulation).

So come here and take this piece of paper from Castiel's hand; then I want you to try and channel your chakra into it, if you do it right and with enough effort; the paper should crumble.

Toguro approaches Castiel and takes the paper. Toguro closes his eyes and releases all the stress in his body, relaxing his muscles and mind. Toguro feels the earth below him. Pushing against his feet and unyielding against them. He connects with the strength of the earth. It brings him comfort. With his mind and body relaxed Toguro bends down to the ground and places his hand to further his connection with the earth. Touching the earth brings him further comfort. Toguro then stands back up and holds the piece of paper handed to him by Castiel. He begins to channel his chakra into it from his hand keeping in mind the earth and its unyielding power. The paper begins to turn to an earth then quickly crumbles onto his hand. However Toguro remains relaxed. He opens his eyes.

Alright, how does the earth chakra make you feel?

"The earth chakra brings me a sensation of strength and makes me feel comfortable and relaxed. When I kneaded it I felt as if I was at home with the earth. It made me feel unyielding, just like how the earth truly is."

So; before we start the techniques you have been given a choice. Template or other training method.

So idea is simple, I will post the techniques and I will ask you to analyse them for me, for example: how to use it in battle, how to counter it, what is good about this technique (pros), what is bad about it (cons), what you like about it and etc. I think you pretty much get what I mean. The "How to perform" - part is a bit, not needed for, but you are more than welcome to perform it, if you don't understand the technique. It's better if we focus on the important things, like actually analysing the whole technique and knowing how to use it in a fight. Only filling the template is boring and sometimes not fun. I want to make this training as enjoyable as I can, I know templates can be boring and dull at times.

Okay let's begin with the first technique.

(Doton No Jutsu) - Earth Release Technique

Range: Short-Mid

Descripton: Creates small pillars of earth, small tools, and small shields of earth

Alright for a D-rank technique, I love it. It's such a great and handy technique. What I want you to do is use your newly created doton chakra and send it towards the ground, once it is in the ground. Use shape manipulation on the ground, the chakra should have merged with the earth, giving you small control over it. From that I want you to create a simple pillar in front of you, shouldn't be more then about 3 meters tall, once you have completed that I want you to gather up your doton chakra again. But this time in your hand, and use shape manipulation on the chakra again to form into a earthen kunai in your hand that you will throw at my clone.

Good thing about this technique, you can make a pillar for example underneath you to push you up into the air, or for an extra boost of speed if you explain it correctly.

I really like this technique for its versatility and low chakra cost. From your examples I can already see its usefulness as a weapon and also as a way to control the battlefield on a small scale. I could use it to throw my enemy into the air and then follow up with another attack of the same or a different element depending on the circumstances which would reduce their chance to dodge the second attack. However it would be fairly simple to counter this technique as it is only D-Rank. A raiton jutsu of equal or higher rank could easily destroy the earth I created. However using creativity I could put the enemy in a situation where they were unable to do so.

Toguro kneaded his earth chakra and slammed his palm on the ground.

Doton no Jutsu!

The ground shook in front of him as he merged his earth chakra with the small area in front of him. Shortly after a pillar emerged from the ground. Toguro then used the jutsu again, creating an earthen kunai which he aimed for his sensei's clone throwing it with great force.

(Doton: Gansetsukon) - Earth Release: Rock Section Cane

Type: Supplementary/Offense
Range: Short (Mid on throw)
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: 20
Description: This technique allows the user to take a small chunk of rock and turn it into the shape of a staff. The user can then use it as a melee weapon or throw it with pinpoint accuracy at their opponent. A variation of this technique allows the user to create several staffs and launch them at the target, but with less accuracy.

Okay send your earth chakra into the ground in front of you, then from that use shape manipulation on the ground to form a small cane/staff out of the earth, and then use your chakra to rise it out of the ground, you can either use it as a melee weapon, or you can actually throw it at your target if you choose. Another way you can use this technique is by making more then one staff and throw them all at your target, you throw them by using your chakra, but your accuracy will be much more off.

Toguro slams his palm once again into the earth and releases his chakra into it

With his earth chakra Toguro manipulates the shape of the earth below him and raises it out of the ground. It forms a cylindrical staff. He takes hold of the staff and removes it fully from the earth below him.

One question about this technique. You say you can use it to create multiple projectiles. Is there a limit to this? Or does it require more than one move to create a second projectile for instance?

Well several is more then two, but less then ten. So no you wouldn't need to use this move twice. Once would be fine, if you used this variation.

I don't think it was anyone from the manga? I thought it was from the filler episodes in the early part of the Shippuden. One of the Twelve Ninja Guardians (the name escapes me).

Fairly simple to understand, more of a distraction type technique. Or just to make fun of your target.
