You can't really confirm that, If anything Naruto just chooses to use Kurama for the most appropriate circumstances, it doesn't necessarily negate his base skills. That's like saying without MS Genjutsu/Tsukuyomi, Itachi is fodder.

it apparently matters to you, because you're trying to spin everything Kurama does as a Naruto feat simply because Naruto being alive is dependent on him being a jin. Naruto is shown calling Kurama up to scare the kid. How is that a feat?

Naruto didn't want to hurt Shin so he had Kurama scare him. That's simply a Perfect Jinchuriki's partnership.

i understand what Naruto was trying to accomplish, but it defeats the purpose of giving Naruto credit when Shin's reaction can be seen as being a direct result of what Kurama did, not Naruto.
