Yeah you're right, and I'm not saying that Gaara shouldn't be grateful to Naruto, or that he's a bad character for agreeing with Naruto. Gaara is a great character, but I just don't see him as a perfect character. Same with Neji, Nagato and Obito. All these guys were turned by Naruto when they could have had enough sense from the beginning to think for themselves instead of being taken by darkness, but this is how the story was supposed to go so I can't argue about it

Naruto/Team 7 saved Sasuke from his lonelines. in Part 1, did that stop him from going rouge. Ultimately he had a mission to accompish something Naruto couldn't fill. His parents were also slaughtered and he saw them being murdered. Yet though his team made him feel like a family, he didn't hesitate to say that " Naruto you know nothing about me". Gaara could have questioned him further or even ask for further clarification if he is confused like Sasuke. Look he should be grateful but not to the point where your whole motive to become a Kage is because 1 man friendzoned you and said that he felt your pain.

Kakashi was a better leader than Gaara but ok I commend him for at least showing his power as a Kage. Powerwise he did but this doesn't make him a perfect character at all. Edo Madz solos btw. Lol support doesn't have to mean fighting support, she supported Sasuke by never giving up on him and pushed Naruto to do the same, she helped Naruto in the war arc by healing the injured SA that would eventually help in extracting the bijuu from Obito. Most importantly, she stopped Kaguya from teleporting allowing her teammates to seal her.

She also took care of Sarada full time while Sasuke is busy travelling the world, and if her daughter ever awakens MS and turns out to be able to prevent blindness with Byakogou just know she gave Uchiha a way to use their power without sacrificing a sibling.

I agree he has depth to his character for sure and being viewed as a monster was terrible. Hence why I believe Part 1 Gaara was interesting. While he does need to look up to Naruto as that was his one best friend who saved him from the darkness, he also needs to develop his own resolve for why he wants to be a Kage, for why he wants to protect his own people. Is it because he enjoys doing it or he wants to become popular after making one friend that was his true friend. At least Sasuke knew what love, and friendship was as a kid. Gaara didn't have the luxury for 13-14 years. That's longer than Sasuke had to deal with the death of the Uchiha clan.

Also you can't seclude Pt.1 and Pt.2 character development they are one in the same. Gaara had the most character development or should I say one of the best from Pt.1 to Pt.2 and that's all there really is to it. His resolve to become a Kage was actually to protect the people he loved, and to purify the sins he committed.

Gaara is much more than you give him credit for.

Gaara had a worse past than Sasuke. Sasuke had his whole clan murdered by his brother, that is sad no doubt. That's easily Top 5 material.

Whether both never realized what true love was whether it be motherly love or brotherly love. One's pain was >= another's. I have to go with Sasuke's pain is the worser one simply because watching your most beloved ones die in front of yout brother, is the worst confused feeling either. Itachi used Tsukuyomi to fuk with the mind of an 8 year old. Gaara's pain was horrible too, as his dad attempted to kill him 8 times with no avail but in the end he sort of figured out who he was, he got revenge at his attackers even though he was viewed as a tool. Sasuke was helpless and lonely in his childhood days, Gaara had Shukaku at least. He could've started a conversation.

But Gaara was alone from the beginning, his father tried to have him killed. His father also sealed Shukaku inside of his son as an experiment. The timescale is a bit off. Sasuke lost everything when he was 7 or 8 and he was brutally lied to. When you really look up to someone and the sight of them excites you then that is true love. In one day everything was stripped from Sasuke. Sasuke was being deluded, he didn't know any love or even if he did it was probably the same amount as Gaara loving Yashamaru for a bit

Also I'm not here to argue who had the saddest childhood but rather I'm trying to discuss Gaara's character development after a certain point.

Pt.1 Naruto had more char development than him but anyways he is still one of the most developed going from Part 1 to Part 2. His continuation story in Shippuden needed more expanding upon, Like how did he gain people's trusts since he was a serial killer, or what was his road to redemption etc...
