Instead of simply admitting it, which would actually agree with the general shonen theme of characters getting more powerful, when some people saw that Kakashi is gaining the upper edge against Obito, they decided that it is then Obito who is supposedly weaker than they thought.
Really? I can already see where this is going - when Kakashi manages to defeat Obito, some will not take it as a valid proof of Kakashi's strength, instead they will try to discredit Obito and say he never was anything special actually.
Obito is currently the strongest alive character in Narutoverse - and probably the fourth strongest of all (after Hashi, Madara and Nagato, not counting SO6P). If this changes for him in any way if Kakashi defeats him, it's not because he suddenly fell down in ranking, but because someone else has climbed up. Learn the difference.
