Karin is bae
The difference is that Jiraiya isn't only perverted. He be a badass, funny, romantic, whatever. In fact, I'm quite sure that he has the most balanced personality in all of NV.
Karin on the otherhand, her personality is literally living for Sasuke. On her profile in the 3rd databook, it says that she was never loyal to Orochimaru, but she lived in terrible conditions and put up with experimentation when she could have escaped to see Sasuke. That's a little extreme imo. I don't hate her, I don't even dislike her, I'm simply indifferent. But, her behaviour definitely isn't something to be admired in a character.
Has Hinata ever plotted on Raping Naruto while he was unconscious? Nope!!!
I guess you didn't see the 'all in the open attitude'' since she's a quiet person we don't know what she be thinking. Also Hinata's been stalking Naruto since he was little yet people still like her. Now i'm started to think people only hate her because she loves Sasuke.
Yup. Just like how Jiraiya had those other traits, Karin also had other traits, including cleverness, hot-headedness, craftyness, and an extremely skilled sensor. But no, let's ignore them for Karin because J-Man is a fan favorite and Karin isn't.
You're being way too defensive here, bud. Please calm it down, sir.

I'm indifferent to both of them. Therefore, this reply wasn't all that needed.
J-Man a fan fav? I doubt it. The only reason he doesn't get bashed is due to the fact that he's not even mentioned that often and therefore people don't feel threatened by his character, don't care about him, or like him. He's not contraversial. You look at him as an inspiring character or nothing more than comic relief. Not alot there to debate on.
Fan favs include characters like Naruto/Sasuke (regardless of the opposing side's haters), Kakashi, Itachi, and Minato. That's pretty much it. Then for females, probably just Konan. The rest have too many haters, laughed at, and aren't significant enough to be mentioned.
I never said that Karin had no other traits. I simply stated that her character revolves heavily around Sasuke's. Unlike Jiraiya who's character revolves around mentoring prominent shinobi as well as having a significant role in finding the way to peace. Karin's character doesn't go any farther than Sasuke, that isn't something you can really deny. This isn't a problem either, considering that most females in the Naruto series are defined by the guy they like, anyway and have very little depth.
I'm simply expressing my disagreement to some of the opinions posted here. Do I have a post limit per thread? In case you've forgotten, that's what this forum is kind of for: discussion. If you don't like what I'm posting, feel free to add me to your ignore list.
Nah, Jiraiya is definitely a fan favorite. He's constantly spoken about positively, and I guarantee the amount of people you'll find that likes him is more than those that don't or are indifferent.
@Bolded: Contradictory statements. Karin's hot-headedness, craftyness and cleverness are independent of Sasuke, so those traits make her character further than just Sasuke.
Yes, you do. Your limit is 3.5 posts per thread and you've obviously passed that. Being so, I'm going to politely ask you to stop posting on this thread. Thank you. You are a gentleman and a scholar.
A character could be spoken positively about due to being likeable enough and not being spoken about often. The more a character is mentioned, the more haters they have more often than not. People could speak positively about Shizune since there's nothing to hate on there, doesn't mean she's a fan favorite. I'm sure that J-man's fans outnumber his haters, but about them outnumbering the people that are indifferent, I doubt that.
No, it's not contradictory. Those are personality traits. Once again, I admit she has personality, she's not a piece of cardboard in this series but a female shinobi. She's bound to have one. Where does her personality take her though? What are her goals other than being with Sasuke? There are none. Personality doesn't make or break the character's significance in the story. Personality just breaches the surface of characterization, there needs to be interaction and set plans for the character that intertwine with other characters.
Also, please don't be offended in any way. It's fine if you like Karin, don't take anything that I've said in this thread as bashing. This is just my opinion. Also, since Sasuke is your fav, I assume you ship SasuKarin? Good luck to that ship, if you do. U_U
I'm indifferent towards Karin. I don't ship anything since I find shipping as a whole stupid as hell.
It's contradictory because you're saying her character doesn't go beyond Sasuke, yet she has character traits that are independent of Sasuke. Personality and actions determine your character, and she has personality traits that are beyond Sasuke. That makes her character beyond more than just Sasuke, regardless of how much it's beyond, it's beyond.
A fan favorite is simply someone who is liked by far more than he is disliked or is neutral. Jiraiya fits into that category.
I'm not offended by anything you're saying, I just disagree and like debating for the sport of it.
