You felt a strange sensation overcome your body almost as if you were being intruded or...violated but not necessarily in an erotic sense (or maybe, idk what gets you off; mind control, sodomy, hey I don't judge). It wouldn't be long before the faint sound of a voice appeared in your mind.

"I'm sorry for just intruding in your mind like this, but I'm looking for somebody. You wouldn't happen to have been requesting training from headmaster Reborn would you?"

A man spoke to you through telepathy, though he was nowhere in sight.

Having been idle for some time, Ithnan couldn't help but flinch, once he heard a stranger's voice within his own mind.

"This isn't a hallucination, is it? I did request training from a sensei, but from a man named Shin Yamanaka. Ya-ma-na-ka.. Oh! Could it be? Is this the HA that only those of the Yamanaka Clan of Konohagakure are known to wield, and with great renown no less? Hmm.. In any case, since you're here, the field of genjutsu is something I'd like training in, sensei.

You may refer to me as Ithnan-kun."​

"Ahh, so headmaster Reborn never revealed himself to you. You're the special ed case right." The man said again inside your head before his body appeared in a blur right before your eyes.

"You are correct, my name is Shin Yamanaka and I will be your instructor. Now then, I've been given your previous records for this area, you have some prior experience here so I won't bore you with asking you what genjutsu is and what not. We'll just get straight to the training." Shin said as he sat down

He crossed his legs and placed his hand on the ground patting it, telling you to sit down in front of him too.

"The way Phantom Academy's system works is the following; concept training, technique training, and application training. At least for genjutsu...we're a fairly new school still roughing out the edges. We'll cover concepts first which, for genjutsu will be skills that are rudimentary for genjutsu i.e Breaking, Casting, and Layering...So then..."

Shin makes a one handed sign, disrupting your chakra and placing you in an illusion. The moment he made the seal a single noose rope appeared from nowhere and wrapped around your neck and began to strangle you, but not hard enough to completely stop you from talking.

"Name me all the ways that can get you out of this situation." Shin smiled "Oh and you might want to be quick about it." Just after he said that the ropes tightened slightly.

Eh! Why must this happen to me..! Uhm.. Uhm.. Pain! In the Academy, we learned that the most simplistic means of nullifying an illusion placed upon our own person, is through the infliction of some wound, which can range from superficial to critical depending on how strong the illusionary technique is. If one happens to have an ally, luckily, they can forgo bodily harm and just have that person disrupt the victim's chakra flow via Genjutsu Dissipation. The victim can also utilize Dissipation, however, it can be considerably harder as they must completely halt their own chakra flow, before releasing an even stronger power to override the opponent's influence. People with a bit more genjutsu training than myself can also rely upon a technique known as "Kai". As far as I am aware, those are all the ways in which I can release myself from an illusion, though Uchiha members can use their Sharigan to break free from many different techniques.​

"I think you're forgetting one...or rather, I think you confused the definition of one with genjutsu kai. To clarify, genjutsu kai is the process of stopping your chakra flow and then re-establishing it in a sudden burst to expel your opponent's chakra from you. There is one more that you didn't mention...I'll give you a hint it's similar to Kai in a way."

Would you perhaps be referring to something like Chidori Current? I believe that whoever taught me Raiton said as much."​

Shin increased the hold on you so that you could no longer speak without using up precious breath that would inevitably render you unconscious.

"Well then, you may want to pay him back for this when you're done. The last usage is by using a full body surge, basically speaking a technique that expels chakra from every chakra point in your body...such as Negashi. This is similar to kai as it implements a surge of chakra to expel foreign chakra, however with genjutsu kai, your chakra flow stops and you re-establish it. With a chakra surge your chakra does not stop, you simply overload the chakra in your body with your technique and that forces out the abnormality...do you get it? Nod if you do or don't please."

The ropes loosen slightly, giving you room to breath moderately however they were still uncomfortably wrapped around your neck.

"Very good, one more thing. How much pain do you think it would take for you to break this illusion?"

As the noose slightly relaxes, Ithnan finds he can speak once more.

"That's hard to say, sensei, since the amount of pain is dependent on the wound inflicted. I honestly don't think I'd have any idea, in most instances, if a say.. a shallow cut will dispel a certain illusion, when in fact, it may require a far more serious wound or even self-maiming! Jeez, illusions are so nasty, self-harm is only conducive of maladaptive tendencies."

"I see..." Shin takes out a kunai and places it down in front of you "Why don't you find out how much then?" just after he said that, he visciously tightened the noose this time holding no remorse or restraint the thick rope pulled violently to strangle you.

"Enough! No more of this nonsense!"

Kneading chakra throughout his body, Ithnan then applies nature transformation as he releases it all from his body. As it releases, his body is overcome with a new surge of chakra that immediately dispels the genjutsu he'd been placed under.

Description: This jutsu allows the user to generate non-focused electricity from their body. It can be used as an omnidirectional attack or be channeled through weapons, the ground or other conductive mediums. Because the electricity isn't focused, it doesn't kill on contact, instead it has great numbing and paralyzing effects. To channel Nagashi through a medium, the user needs to focus the technique into one of his hands which will then be put in contact with the medium and can only choose to either do a widespread attack throughout his whole body or to channel it into something; he cannot achieve both usages at the same time. Despite not having much destructive or damaging properties, Nagashi can be used to destroy low rank earthen and wooden structures and even negate chakra on the ground to stop high ranked earth and wood techniques. It has also been noted that Lightning Specialists that have mastered Lightning to the highest degree can resist total paralyzation, although they still feel the pain and numbing effects.
Note: Paralyzation lasts 1 turn if sucessful but is ineffective against bios who have a primary Lightning Specialty

Your chidori current used successfully, released you from Shin's illusion, however, in such close vacinity to Shin the current caught him. However, when it did, he dispersed into a moderate sized log, revealing his use of a substitution jutsu.

Description: Kawarimi no Jutsu is a basic Ninjutsu technique. When in danger the ninja will quickly substitute themselves with another nearby object. This can be a block of wood or even another person. This allows the ninja to quickly flee and hide while the original object takes the brunt of their opponents attack. The technique is a mix between high speed movement and the use of the transformation technique but has its limits.

You felt a hand firmly patting your head from behind as Shin walked from behind you after you released your jutsu.

"My my, I see you're not as stupid as I thought. Though in retrospect, that jutsu of your would've been handy about, 5 minutes ago when I began strangling you. What on earth made you think you had to stay that way." Shin laughed at you.

Feeling Shin pat his head from behind, Ithnan turned to face his sensei.

"Why? Perhaps more than one person is being tested.. Or maybe, I just happen to be a masochist. Consider that!"​

"You're such a liar" Shin continued to laugh, "You didn't start thinking about it until you got angry. Though it's strange, usually shinobi gain clarity and reason when they're calm."

"Anyway, continuing on, we're going on to casting. Again, I won't bore you with asking you how genjutsu is cast normally. Through hand seals or some other means, you send your chakra into the brain of your opponent and disturb their chakra to create the illusion...much like what I've been doing to you throughout the training so far. However, I want you to give me a couple other ways in which somebody may cast an illusion. Think, mediums"

Upon hearing Shin's request, Ithnan takes a brief moment to gather his thoughts, and reflect on what he knew.

"Hmm.. I know that the Uchiha can induce illusions via their eyesight (Sharingan). Other ways of inducing illusions could be through certain, chakra-infused sound waves or particular odors. I believe there are even martial art styles that induce illusions upon being struck. There are a plethora of both tangible and intangible methods for genjutsu mediums, it seems."​

"I could read your mind and find out what underwear you're wearing if I wanted to, now stop being a spoil sport! Anyway, onto the task at hand.

Correct, in terms that are easier to understand, mediums through the five senses are used to implement genjutsu. Channeling your chakra through physical contact, or inducing odors, sound waves, etc. Using mediums through the stimuli that control a shinobi's senses are all fair game in getting a ninja under your spell. Just because you use one medium to capture your opponent, doesn't mean you're restricted to altering the reality of just that one sense. You can create visual and physical phenomena with jutsu that are cast using sound waves as mediums or strong odors, etc. To be quite honest, some mediums allow you advantages over the standard casting method.

Give me some advantage a sound based genjutsu has over a standard genjutsu. Sound techniques being techniques that utilize sound waves to disrupt your opponent's chakra. I'm looking for one specific answer to be exact. Try to figure that one out unless you want to be put in another illusion and I'll make sure you can't break this next one." Shin said his last words rather strictly and intimidatingly to, at the very least, let you know he could be serious.

"What part of 'some' don't you understand..." Shin sighed. He then looked at you with a certian malice short of killing intent, however his message still got across to you.

"I feel like being...nice today so I'll give you one more chances. Give me a few more advantages, maybe you'll find the one I'm looking for and bring up some more food for thought. I'll even give you a hint; eyes..."

Eyes? A hint? Why can't your lectures be as direct as your physical approach?
Let me guess.. sound-based genjutsu is also useful in that there is nothing to see!"​
