Passworded Forums for the Gotei 13 and the Espada

The added precaution of the forums being viewable only with a special permission would ensure that if someone were to give away the password, the forums would still not be viewable to that person.

I apologize for reposting this quote of mine, but the last time I reposted it, it appeared at the bottom of the page, and was quickly followed by another post of mine, therein nullifying any attention that it might have brought to itself.

Anyway, the above suggestion would prevent any detriments of password leaks.

Anybody that is worried about losing a password needn't worry...

once you put in the password for the first time, as long as you have cookies active, it is saved... so whenever you come online you will have access to your specific forum...

also ... to save the password... just send a PM to yourself on here...

I'm not up for password protecting the groups. The password will leak anyways and if the password has to be changed, everyone in this group has to be notified... it's a never ending road.

Maybe it's better to let me close these 2 boards, make 2 seperate member groups and add the members into it. These groups will not get a color and everything will remain the same as usual. Except you can only join your own Social group and you will be banned from the other one. One disadvantage is that we admins have to add / remove the members from these groups manually and it will not stay by 2 groups, more big ones will come eventually...... hmm thinking of a solution.

Another issue is with the threads that are in the originial groups. The New Gotei 13 has been around for a long time and if a new group was to be made, we'd lose all of the valuable threads in it O_O

What do you mean, you want a 2nd list of approved members, even though they are an approved member of the group itself ?

Oh, you can tell who enters the password by looking at the logs? That sounds perfect. Perhaps there could be regular checks of the password logs ? Say, once every week or two?

And could the threads we've made in our social group be moved into the passworded forum? If not, I could simply copy-and-paste the first post of each important thread.

The Arrancar group needs no password, if u guys want password for the Gotei thats your thing.
We?re fine like that, important matters are discussed on msn anyways.

I dont think a password is required. The Arrancar are fine like Bianca said. It would be helpful though if there are some members you don't trust yet or are innactive. Groups should just be more careful about who's in their group.

Groups should also make sure that their members aren't breaking the rules. >_>
But that argument is one best left in the past. Please don't make me bring it up again... I don't like to argue >.<


Anyway, that's fine if you don't want one. But the Gotei 13 feels that it, as a whole, would benefit from greater security. We have a great deal of members to regulate and train and, although we also have many senior Shinigami who've already received training, we feel added security would provide for a more comfortable environment for our members, aside from the whole "protection from spies" thing.

The password should be changed routinely, and the group's logs should be check routinely against a list of approved members which should be updated as frequently as possible. Naturally, any unapproved members should be punished.

If the administrators or moderators need the assistance of the Gotei 13 in any way concerning the creation of a passworded forum, we would be more than happy to oblige.

Call me a fool but i think the password thing is even less secure than the group thing... and it require 10 times the work...
its simple... Just review all the members... kick those who arent an active part of the group... and only invite trusted members....

with the password thing... anyone who happens to get it will be granted full access whether being a member of the group or not...

AND with a password i believe the mods can see past them anyway right?
whereas only SMODS can see through groups....

There isn't any information in any group that is so important that is requires an encryption. I'm sure that all ill parties have been removed from said group.

Have we forgotten that this is a game of sorts?

I've yet to see anyone have fun....and if this password bs happens. I'm quite sure it will be the end of the Bleach RPG System.
