Part 1 vs. Part 2 Animation

So lately I've been watching some of the old part 1 Naruto episodes for fun. I noticed that the animation seems better in part 1 than it is in part 2. This makes no sense to me. You'd think that as time goes on the animation would only get
better.

Now I'm not saying all of the animation in part 2 is bad, i just find part 1 to be more consistently good. Some parts seem to be better than others, but recent episodes have been bad IMO.


Thoughts, opinions?

yeah that's true, pt1 was more consistent. part 2 has some fights which are utterly fantastic- the sasori fight for example, sasuke vs itachi, jiraiya vs pain, kage summit arc,konan vs tobi, but also some moments which are really sloppy. (pain vs kyuubi up until CT, kisame vs guy etc, the current war arc,, naruto's km). it's probably because they're pushing out one movie after another... hopefully they'll do the war arc justice though

Why should it? By the time Shippuuden was created, they've reached the point where their fanbase was enormous and hooked to the point where the creators didn't have to invest as much time or maintain the standard of quality as they wouldn't be risking a loss of profits. I'm pretty sure that a majority of people would rather spend less time and effort in a production if it would still yield approximately the same profit.

Except it isnt always like that. A lot of the time when a show is doing well, they will increase the budget and improve the production.

Agreed, and a lot of the time it goes as how I stated; hence the topic poster's reasoning for making this topic. In his opinion the quality of the production declined, why? I most certaintly don't know, but I can hypothesize.

^Lol I'm the thread starter. Really the only reason i can think of for poor animation in part 2 is sheer laziness.

I completely agree with you, when I would watch the Part 1 Zabuza fight, the animation just looked so much more clear and better fitted for characters.

In part 2 they added lip stick to Haku!?!? Did they forget he was a boy? I just hope Part 2 gets the same animation like part 1 soon.

Well i haven't watched the first half of shippuden anime in a while. I'm comparing what i've seen recently in the war arc to early part 1 episodes. Some of the current war arc has looked pretty bad, not to mention bad animation in many of the part 2 fillers.

My point is that the animation in part 1 was of consistent decent quality. I don't find a lot of episodes that just look bad. In shippuden, its like they just said "screw it" for some episodes and they turned out bad.

I would agree that the episodes with GOOD animation in shippuden tend to look better than part 1 episodes, but they don't do that for every episode..

It costs more money to make high quality animation all the time, also depends on the animators, how skilled they are.

part 1 i agree was more consistent, and i really hope its something other than laziness thats making part 2 not quite as on par with part 1. i mean, if they can make it better, then they should.
