After realizing the Gaara attack Sasuke, Sakura's killing intent elevated, despite her lack of offensive jutsu.
She realized she had to save Sasuke & Naruto, and she was the only one who could, Naruto was scared, and Sasuke was disabled, And the Dog wasn't a battle type.
Sasuke's condition was getting worst she had to act quickly.
Gaara is making his move, Sakura must summon all the power of Shannaroo! And stand tall against her, she couldn't use her acedemy jutsu because it would leave Sasuke open for Gaara to attack.
So she placed Gaara under a genjutsu and gets really for the kill, mind you she was a genin with only academy jutsu And he was a tailed beast.
The Genjutsu was an occular genjutsu, she forces Gaara to relive his most painful memories.

When Itachi uses Genjutsu, the same effect is shown
And when Kurenai goes in for the kill using genjutsu, she uses a Kunai too
Now Gaara has two minds, just as Sakura does, so his other mind is helping him to resist the Genjutsu (The tailed beast)Which is why he is able to attack Sakura.
But Sakura's chakra control is too great, and as Jiraiya told us
Genjutsu works by the openent controlling the chakra in your head.
Which Sakura's still manages to do, despite her being knocked out. Which is why Gaara is holding his head. Her chakra control is far to superior for Gaara or the one tailed beast to break. And Temari even praises her, for being able to stand her own against Gaara in his current state.
Her genjutsu is still in effect.
He wonders why she is this strong, why can't he break free, Why did she protect him.
Then She causes him to relive his worst memories causes him to have a 3 chapter long flashback..
So Naruto didn't save everyone, Sakura did.
