Part 1 Gaara vs Neji

I always thought this would've been a good match during the chunin exams. Who do you think takes this? I think Gaara can probably take this med diff because did neji didnt have anything at that time to get past the sand defense.

there's something I don't really get.. Neji was said to be stronger than Lee but obviously Lee with gates shits on Neji ( remember Lee could open the 3rd gate during the chuunin exams)

The mother love only protects him, Gaara actively control offensive attacks with his chakra.

Lee said he never beaten Neji, this was before he knew how to use the gates; he was planning on saving it for Neji but had to use it on Gaara. Neji isn't at the level he was when Lee first used the gates, he trained for a month to improve his skills for his matches in the finals and about 5-6 weeks passed while Naruto and Jiraiya were looking for Tsunade so Neji has over 2 months of training while Lee was unable to do anything serious because of his injuries. Part 1 Neji is Neji by the end of part 1, he was able to react to Naruto's fast movements in Initial chakra cloak mode before the 5-6 weeks of training. Even with the gates Lee isn't beating Neji who can literally just rotate Lee away from him and cause Lee to burn out from the gates.

Gaara is the strongest Genin in part 1 so yes he can beat any of the genins from part 1.

I wish we got to see this fight along with Neji v Sasuke in pt. 1. Would have been awesome.

Neji could definitely give Gaara a run for his money but I don't see how he could get past Gaaras sand. Even if he did Gaara's sand armor could possibly protect him from Neji's Jyuuken (kind of like Kidomaru). I don't really see how Neji could damage Gaara, so I'd say Gaara would take it mid diff. Bad matchup for Neji even though he was probably the second strongest Genin in pt. 1 behind Gaara.

Kaiten would break Neji out pretty easily.

Still, Neji really doesn't have any offensive options against Gaara. Actually, neither does Gaara against Neji, but Gaara would eventually wear Neji out.

Not stronger than that darn Naruto though.

Gaara would outlast him, if only by just a margin as Lee had pushed him to exhaustion. Kaiten would protect him from Gaara's attacks, even Sand Coffin. But can't keep this up forever. It will be close though. These clean sweep remarks are laughable.
