PAIR Arc Final thoughts:
The PAIR arc is done with this week's chapter & I thought I'd share my thoughts on the arc. Personally, I enjoyed the arc a lot. It had a great mix of comedy, adventure/world-building, action, romance (
) and still weirdly enough maintaining the danger aspect of the Gourmet World. The introduction of the ENBU system was nice and that amazing setup/foreshadowing that we got at the end of the arc was simply phenomenal.
My only issues with the PAIR arc was that I felt that there could of been more of a deeper explanation of the ancient civilization & the history of Area 7. However we did get some of an explanation of the previous king ancestor and the method of preparing PAIR, so that's okay. Overall I'd rate the arc a 9.5/10, it was better than the AIR arc (which I'd give an 8/10).
Let's talk about more of this incredible plot progression and world building we got at the end of the arc. As we all now:
Intriguing, right? I just love how shimabukuro foreshadowed these events since the cooking festival arc. Anyways, it's evident that Toriko's plot is growing with these events and the plot now isn't just about Toriko obtaining his dreamed full course but also stopping this massive event.
Area 6 Expectations:
Now as for Area 6, I don't think me having expectations for the arc (regarding the geology or environments) will do any justice since I doubt it'll come anywhere close to how imaginative shimabukuro is. However, I do want to ask you guys what you think the next king ruler of the sea continent (Area 6) will be. My first choice would be an alligator/crocodile because it fits well with how the sea continent is structured & they can travel on land:
Not only that but we saw an img of the kings as well and I think a crocodile/alligator can fit one of the panels:
My other choices for next king that aren't so likely but are still epic would be either a whale or kraken. I'm so glad to see Starjun & Brunch playing a role in the next arc and they'll need their help seeing what happened in this week's chapter.
Potential Act 3 of Toriko:
Finally, I want to discuss the idea of a potential act 3 of the Toriko series. As we all know, act 1 occurred in the human world and act 2 occurs in the gourmet world. Now what if act 3 would occur in outer space? Crazy, huh? Toriko's world building seems endless to me now. I feel that shimabukuro teases us at times with these panels of space and it could be him hinting at the idea of act 3 of Toriko occurring in space. For example, ever since Toriko ate air, we saw him do this:
And when Bambina was going to sleep:
And now with the recent chapter of Toriko:
So what do you think? What's your thoughts on the PAIR arc, the expectations of Area 6 (sea continent) and the idea of act 3 of Toriko? Don't forget to discuss Toriko Chapter 323
