[Theory] Orochimaru's loyalty

This chapter brought up more questions for me about Orochimaru and Danzo than it did answers. Let me explain

As shown in this most recent chapter, Danzo had bandages on his eye and arm before he got the Sharingan transplants:

So he probably got injuries on his right arm and right eye before getting the Sharingan transplants. So that's not too much of a problem, but what is a problem is that Oro is there and he's still loyal to Konoha at the time. But after a five years in this chapter in appears that Orochimaru had defected from the village by then:

So that brings up the question, was Oro still loyal to Danzo after Hiruzen forced him to defect?

I'm pretty sure that Itachi defected from the village after Orochimaru. But the problem with that is Oro would have had to come back to the village to help put in Danzo's new Sharingans after Itachi slaughtered his clan

What was also shown in this chapter was the fact that it showed Danzo sending Kabuto and his mother on a "long" mission. Itachi was also technically sent on a "long" mission by Hiruzen. Was Oro also on a "long" mission for Danzo to spy on the Akatsuki after Hiruzen forced him out of the village?

That makes me wonder whether Oro invaded Konoha in part 1 so that Danzo could take over after Hiruzen was killed. It also makes me wonder what Oro was getting in return from Danzo if he was doing all of these favors for him so that he could become Hokage. So basically what I'm saying is that Hiruzen had Itachi do his dirty work for the benefit of Konoha and Danzo had Orochimaru do his own dirty work for his own personal benefit and for Konoha. It basically reinforces the idea that Konoha shinobi in general did some pretty dirty things to keep their village on top

Do you guys think this is possible?

EDIT: I just thought of something else. Mei said that Danzo and Tobi had similar techniques with their Sharingans:

Say hypothetically that Tobi used that technique to control the Kyuubi during the Nine Tails attack. Now say that Danzo wanted Shukaku to attack to village so that he could march out and neutralize Shukaku with the same technique that Tobi used on the Kyuubi. He would have been the hero of the village and he would have most likely been appointed Hokage for his heroic actions. If Oro knew that Danzo had such a tech in his arsenal, why attack Konoha with Shukaku if he knew Danzo could beat him?

It's definitely possible, been wondering about it for a while and this chapter makes it a more realistic possiblity. Everything Oro has done could be in Danzo's favor if you think about it.

Then why come back and implant those Sharingan into him if he felt no loyalty to him. And why assassinate Hiruzen and try to cause chaos in the village? Just for revenge? Or did Danzo ask Oro to do this so that he could march out during the Shukaku's rampage through the village and save the day with Shisui's Sharingan?

i think we're figuring in too much time passing between events...
we still have to remember that Oro was apart of Akatuski for a time as well...
so where on the time line would that fit in between working for root...becoming sannin, working on danzo, akatuski, and fighting Hiruzen

if anything i would say that Kabuto wasn't with Oro long b4 Konoha invasion happened...
in 583 when Oro meets him at the end, Kabuto looks pretty tall for whatever his age would have been at the time since he was still supposedly a teenager during the chuunin exams right?

Oro's way too awesome to be Danzo's lackey. He still probably needed info on the leaf after he left and since him and Danzo were homies, (he let him experiment on him...), they probably still communicated for mutual benefit.

I dont think he was loyal to danzo... maybe still traded goods and information every once in a while... and oro's attack on the leaf was for his own personal vendetta against the third... and itachi was under orders from more the black ops side of the village than the hokage....not entirely sure how old everyone is in this... but danzo could have had all his transplants done by this time as well....

I like this thread.

I honestly think Orochimaru defected 100% and cut all ties, but it'd be cool is this was the twist. Being in Root now certainly raises questions.\


Overall, they were probably friends like others said.

I don't know, after this chapter it's hard to tell how close Danzo and Oro were after Hiruzen kicked Oro out. I still say that they had a closer relationship than we originally thought

Orochimaru and Danzo shared a goal. They both wanted to take Hiruzen down. Orochimaru because he held a grudge against Hiruzen for not choosing him as the 4th Hokage and Danzo because he simply disagreed with Hiruzen's policies on how the village should be run. He blamed Hiruzen for everything, including Pain's invasion.

What would 2 characters who work together and have a similar goal do? They would obviously plot together.

Danzo and Root (Orochimaru was a member as confirmed by the recent chapter) helped Orochimaru form Sound. Then they formed an alliance with Sand in hopes to take down Hiruzen. Little did Sand know that the 4th Kazekage was also a target. This is killing two birds with one stone .

I do not believe Oro was a villan, a genius yes. He had the same idea as danzo. Danzo wanted to protect konoha with force and fear, he wanted to be hokage. By getting rid of the 3rd by using Oro it would be easy. The idea that Oro could have been spying on the akatsuki could be possible. Kabuto was a pawn as usual.

Exactly, I believe that they both planned out the entire thing to fail. All Oro wanted was Sasuke and for Konoha to stop bothering him. All Danzo wanted was to become Hokage. If the Invasion of Konoha had gone according to plan, both of these things most likely would have happened
