Most of us should be familiar with the serpentine-like shinobi by now, and after going through most of the anime/manga, there should be few who aren't aware of what his goal in life was: the mastery of every single ninja technique known to the series. Unfortunately for him, that goal was quite unrealistic, seeing as it would take an endless amount of years to accomplish such a milestone, which led to him developing a kinjutsu capable of transferring his soul into the body of another person, indefinitely increasing his life span, and making his seemingly impossible desire possibe. That would be the Fushi Tensei/Living Corpse Reincarnation technique; for all those who aren't 100% sure of how it works, check out the link:
Now, greatly aiding him in accomplishing this feat was the Uchiha Clan's Kekkai Genkai, the Sharingan, which possesses the unique ability of copying techniques simply through mere observation. Most unfortunately for him, he was ultimately defeated in his desire to obtain the feared dojutsu; first by Itachi, and then by Sasuke, the latter of who resulted in his eternal sealing within a world of drunken stupor by Itachi's Susano'o's Tsokuta Blade.
Here's where I'm stumped; Let's say, hypothetically, that Orochimaru succeeded in stealing Itachi/Sasuke's body and gaining the Sharingan. While its made clear that with the proper container, Orochimaru could potentially live a lifetime within that body, one extra lifetime still isn't enough to learn every single ninja technique there is. He would eventually grow old within Itachi/Sasuke's body, which would leave him with two options:
1. Transfer his soul into another body to avoid death, and lose the Sharingan, as well as all the techniques he's learned in the process.
2. Live within Itachi/Sasuke's body until the very end
Now, in terms of number 1, I'm not sure whether the techniques he'd copied with the Sharingan would be passed on to the new body, since he can't take the Kekkai Genkai with him as he transfers his soul (as it was never originally his to begin with), and the new host most likely hasn't seen all the techniques he would've seen during that time ... or whether he would still be capable of using the techniques, since he'd have vivid memory of them (his soul, anyway) - so perhaps someone can clear that up for me.
In the end though, even with access to the Sharingan, there's no way Orochimare could've mastered every jutsu there is, in addition to creating more, so his ambition seems pretty moot - at least in my opinion.
Any comments/opinions/rebuttals are welcome; I'll do my best to answer them.
