Orochimaru wasn't directly fighting him, it was the Edo Hokage who were toying with him. The moment Orochimaru fought Hiruzen, he got owned easily and caught.

Orochimaru was CLEARLY toying around the whole fight, had he been serious, he would have simply killed Hiruzen when Hiruzen was caught in the genjutsu. 2. Tobirama and Hashirama's strength was at pitiful levels when they were revived, and even still. Orochimaru toyed to because Hiruzen was old. What could Prime Hiruzen had done differenly. Maybe he wouldnt have been tired faster, but the end result would have been the same.

Hiruzen didnt show any of his secret techniques either, not to mention his chakra in his prime was monstrous, Orochimaru doesnt have that kind of chakra. You also forget he knows and can use all the techniques in Konoha, he is also master of over 1000 illusions. Itachi one shotted Oro with Genjutsu, I'm pretty sure that out of those 1000 illusions he has a S-class Genjutsu. Hiruzen as an old man only had the chakra to create two shadow clones, in his prime he could have done so many more and spammed RDS on a whole new level without having to physically perform it on Orochimaru. Hiruzen in his prime also had exemplary straight, that much raw strength along with Adamantine Staff skills can wreck Orochamu's kenjutsu. You clearly dont have the brain capacity to register that a prime Hiruzen is something Orochimaru will never achieve due to experimenting with his body to the point where he can't even last more than 2 years in a single body. Immense strength overpowers Oro, monstrous chakra overwhelms Oro, rivaling jutsu knowledge to that of Orochimaru's puts him in a pinch. There is nothing Oro can do against 100's of shadow clones spamming his array of techniques and combined with speed and strength and a dash of experience and his nerfing summoning Enma makes Orochimaru in to a spouting toddler.

Orochimaru wasnt directly fighting because he had the weak versions of Tobirama and Hashirama doing it. Had he jumped in, Hiruzen would have been killed quick, and Oro's fun ends.
