His redemption should be him dying. I love your analysis and everything, but even if he took out Madara single-handedly, the crimes he has committed won't be swept under the rug. He's either going to spend his redemption in prison (I don't see that happening...not really) Or he gets killed sacrificing himself...

Still, I do know that the 3rd still did care about Orochimaru a little bit...as before the 3rd died he saw only the young and hopeful Orochimaru. So maybe the 3rd can try reason with this snake.

Great thread as always and it sure seems legit..........

The reason why Orochimaru started experimenting with forbidden jutsu's was death of his parents and I am sure his parents were killed while serving the village or may be were killed by enemies and hokages turned a blind eye to in order to maintain peace between the counties and I think this happened in thirds reign as Hokage which is why Orochimaru resented third and village the most.

Stop it, Orochimaru is NOT a good character. So because you put together images in which he hesitated in destroying the only home he ever knew, he's now good? lol

Orochimaru from a young age lived a very curious life, it's this curiosity that led him down this dark path we know and love him for. His intentions were always selfishly driven, even now as he follows Sasuke it's Orochimaru's curiousness that is dragging him along.

The facts stand by his actions, no matter how you try to put it Orochimaru's actions are and will always be evil.

Indeed I feel he's turned a new "leaf"...get it..."leaf"....yeah maybe my timing was off a bit on that. None the less, I agree

Such is the enigma of Orochimaru. Personally, I go strictly on hunch that Orochimaru will eventually reveal an ulterior motive in aiding Sasuke and co. but as of right, yes it seems that this could be Orochimaru's moment of redemption. It's interesting to see the plurality of Orochimaru' character, that for many, was seen as one dimensional and straightforward not so long ago. Also, just on an added note, I like to to think that Kishi had always given clues as to the complex nature of Orochimaru. Represented as a white snake, it has -in many cultures- varied meanings. From positive, lucky, evil, or neutral, it seems fitting that Kishi picked the white snake to represent Oro'.

Overall, job well done comrade.

Bravo sir... bravo Ive always had a vague notion that he only started his expiriments because Danzo ordered him to, because Danzo had convinced him that it was for the best of the village, perhaps even telling him that Hiruzen was never to find out else he would kill anko or something like that, the same way he blackmailed Kabuto which could speak to why Orochimaru took in Kabuto as his student. It is very possible that Much like itachi, orochimaru he a double agent. Think about it once he left konoha he was STILL working with Danzo.

When you think about it the sound village attacking Konoha did alot of things for Konoha. It put the sand village in konoha's debt, it prepared konoha for the upcoming war, provoked sasuke to leave the village, gave ANBU more power over the village (similar to the US and terrorist acts giving homeland security more power).. and the list goes on.

Not to mention that Danzo isnt anywhere to be seen during the attack on Konoha I cant help but think he was in on it and was planning on using Shisuis eyes to make himself hokage after Hiruzens death...Hmmm, this is interesting, Im going look back over the earlier scans to see if I can find anything.

DissonantValues, Sovereign Lord of Cynicism gives his seal of approval. From the moment Hiruzen claimed the white snake was one of rebirth and renewal Orochimaru was destined to turn. Kishi has yet to let something defining of a character like that be used for something twisted. I like to think of Orochimaru as a Darth Vader character.

hmm.....good theory....obviously certain expressions of orochimaru indicate that he actually might turn good.....but that doesn't change his ultimate ambition. He may stop attacking the leaf in future but we can very well expect him to pick up some uchiha and absorb him.

Definitely agree with you on this. I truly believe that Oro will follow Sasuke's path.

Although slightly off topic does anyone else think that Oro killed Hirzuen because he wasn't chosen as the Hokage?
