*As I take a marker from the desk I begin writing my name up upon the board*
Welcome to your Orientation! My name is Zatanna and I will be your sensei for this event!
Now, as you already know there are a few different area's of the Naruto Role Playing section, and we are gonna go over each one of them in more detail so you can get an understanding of just how fun and exciting this is!
*giving you a small booklet, it has Orientation on the front, with several pages of information inside*
Now! Which area would you like to start with?
Konoha Town:
The non RP section of our area, where we have mostly discussions, non-RP related evens such as trivia games, lotteries, drafts etc.
Biographies:
One of the most common area's to start with, as everything you'll need to do in the RP will involve a Biography, (or Bio for short) and this is that section. You may have questions like what are the differences, how do I get one, how do i get stronger etc.Training will also be covered in this area.
▸Canon vs Custom Bios
▸Ranks
▸Specialties
▸Special Abilities (and their combinations HA/AE/KG/Mode)
Battling:
This is one of the key, core components of our RP, being able to fight each other! In this section youll learn all about how to start a battle, what rules we use, technical terms and their meanings such as Time Frame, Elemental interactions, how to resolve arguements etc.
▸Time-frame
▸Blocking, avoiding, dodging
▸Disagreements, quoting, and quoting etiquette
▸Official vs Unofficial battles
The Ninja World or Warring States Era (WSE):
Our Ninja World is the area where you can explore and create your very own story! Do you want to create your own village, do you want to be a rogue and start an Akatsuki all on your own? What ever you want to do, its possible in our Ninja World!
▸Missions (Very important)
▸Clans
▸Story Arcs
Customs:
This is the section that allows you to personalize your arsenal, what you can make, how to make them, and what the rules are for each section.
▸CJ (Custom Jutsu)
▸CFS (Custom Fighting Style)
▸CE/CEJ (Custom Elements and Custom Element Jutsus)
▸CC/CCJ (Custom Clans and Custom Clan Jutsu)
▸CW (Custom Weapons)
▸CT (Custom Technology)
Ok!
In our RP we have a large amount of customisation, where people have copied techniques from other anime, video games or what ever universes you like. However, they have to be appropriately moderated so that its still fair on everyone else.
If you want to make a technique to shoot fire out of your eyes, you can do that. Make extra arms out of water, can do that as well. youre only limited by your imagination. There are some specific rules when it comes to customs that, if it has been made before, you are not allowed to copy or steal those ideas.
So Customs comes under several different headings depending on what you want to make. Our customs system allows you to make anything you want, provided someone else hasn't made it already.
- As of right now, we have a 7 day cycle, where by you have 7 day to post your customs, where after the 7th day, the threads will be locked and the mods will check to either approve or decline your customs.
- You can submit 4 basic submissions, one custom field and 3 advanced submissions per cycle. This number increases if you have a sensei title or a Sage Rank.
Basic submissions cover basic ninjutsu which is your standard elemental ninjutsu, taijutsu, kenjutsu, genjutsu, fuuinjutsu etc. This also covers things such as Custom elemental jutsu, custom fighting style jutsu.
So lets say that you had your own custom element and wanted to submit 2 techniques for it, you would have only 1 other basic submission slot left which could be used for something like a Fire release, or Taijutsu.
Custom fields are things like Custom elements, Custom Fighting styles or Custom Clans. You may submit only one of these per cycle. So if you had a great idea for a custom element and a custom fighting style, you could only submit one of them at a time.
Lastly Advanced Submissions are described as
"Advanced Submissions are customs you are generally able to obtain without joining a CC or possessing a Doujutsu but dont fit under Custom Fields. These are submissions such as Custom Technology. "
Something else to bare in mind is that everyone has a limit on how many customs they can create. You are allowed to make up to 35 Custom Techinques. On top of this, you are allowed to create 2 customs summoning contracts, 2 custom fighting styles (with a 3rd one at Sage rank), 2 custom elements, and a custom clan once you reach Sage rank.
Custom Summoning Contracts:
While you are allowed to make 2 custom animal summoning contracts, you are also allowed to have up to 10 custom summons per contract. However if you wish to make special ninjutsu that involved your contract, (think Toad Oil Bomb, or Slug acid techniques) they fall under the standard 35 basic submission rules.
Custom Elements:
You are allowed to make 2 custom elements each with 12 jutsu. You are also allowed to be a student of 2 and a co-creator of 3 as well. However your name can only appear on 5 at any given time. So if you create 2 custom elements, and learn 2 as a student, you can only be a co creator of one other custom element.
Custom Fighting Styles:
Custom fighting styles follow similar rules, where you can only be a creator of 2, however once you reach a Sage rank you can Create a third as well. with Custom fighting styles, each can have up to 10 custom fighting jutsu as well.
So the ninja world is a huge open area that you can explore, Roleplay in and meet and fight other people from the site.
Depending on what you wanna do is completely up to you!
Now youve asked specifically more about missions!
So missions are ways to obtain Kumi and Ryo as well as was to add story to your character, and build your clan! Missions are posts that you write out with a story then submitted to be graded. Each story board element that you include in your mission has a rank from D to S.
D being the lowest, C, B, A then S being the highest.
For example,
D rank storyboard elements include:
Explore a landmark
Gather resources from the land
Do a good deed
Do a bad deed
Take part in local festivities or a cultural ritual
Set up camp
Where as an S rank storyboard element includes something like:
Win a fight without your ninjutsu
Fight an enemy much stronger than yourself
Save a large community from danger
Survive a near-death situation
Assassinate the enemy commander
These are harder missions that have a small success chance, but still able to be passed by excellent ninja!
If you have a custom storyboard element you want to do, that isnt found on the Table, then tahts ok, youre still allowed to do that! All you simply need to do is try to guess what Rank your story board element would be! For example, Cleaning a house would be more likely a D or C rank storyboard element, not an S rank or A rank element.
You can add as many story board elements as you like to your mission, but you must spend equal time on all of them to pass. You could have 2 A rank and 2 B rank elements or even just focusing on one element like a single A rank.
On to the fun part! How to do a mission, which is really quite simple.
Lets say I wanted to do a single D rank mission. I would pick an element, like Do a Good Deed. Then in the ninja world I would go to the landmark that I want to do the mission in. Lets assume that Im in my own village, and ready to go!
Next I go to the thread, and start my mission by typing:
"This post marks the beginning of my mission using these storyboard elements: "
Then I list the story element Ive chosen
"- Do a good deed"
After this, I give a summary of how the story goes:
"While in my village, I see an elderly lady struggling to carry her shopping. I help her carry it home"
Then I proceed to write my mission below! So it may look like this:
This post marks the beginning of my mission using these storyboard elements:
- Do a good deed
Summary: While in my village, I see an elderly lady struggling to carry her shopping. I help her carry it home.
It was a bright sunny afternoon when I was walking home........ etc etc.
Ninja world missions are a great way to not only earn kumi and ryo, but also a great way to interact with others, as well as improving your RP writing skills!
Now battles can be done in the Battle Arena, which is where you can make official or unofficial battles, test out new moves, try new combo's etc. You can use any one of your bios, but each bio can only be in one official battle at a time
If you have a battle in the Ninja World, these are all Official, and as such follow the official rules.
Lets just assume for the time being that youre going to have a battle in the Battle arena. Firsly you have to follow the following rules.
Before starting a battle all the participants must agree on these things:
Terrain: You and your partner(s) must decide on a terrain which you will battle on and additionally the weather. This does not mean that the field and weather can't change through the use of a jutsu.
Range: Where both of you exactly stand. Short ( 0 to 5 meters ) , medium ( 5 to 15 meters ) or long range from each other ( 15+ meters )?
Element & Jutsu Usage: You can choose which and how many elements you want to use in a battle (from the ones you learned), but also whether custom jutsu's/elements are allowed or not.
Type of Battle: Choose the type of battle you want. No restrictions, taijutsu battle, ninjutsu only battle, team battle, etc.
Bio: Agree on which bio each participant uses.
After this, usually the person who makes the thread will go first.
Now once a battle starts, a Timeframe is initiated. Timeframe is the sequence of events that happens during a battle. The battle begins when a person starts an aggressive action, then the battle is done in turns with each turn consisting of 2 moves (one Move from each player). Each Move can have 3 techniques.
An important note is "The first aggressive action of the first player triggers the beginning of the fight. However, the timeframe can only move forwards and, as such, the first aggressive action of the first player cannot be prevented. This aggressive action is any action that initiates the battle and that the other player can perceive. Normally, this is a technique but it can also be throwing a Kunai, molding your chakra, running, etc. Note that molding chakra triggers the beginning of the fight but DOES NOT mean that you can stop that from happening; It means that you can start "acting" from that point on. Acting, as in, molding your chakra, taking a stance, etc etc if you are able to detect the opponent molding chakra through sensory type jutsu such as Sharingan and Sensory techniques. This doesn't mean that you can finish a technique before your opponent finishes his, just that the time frame itself starts at this point. "
Lets move onto your first turn!
We will say that you are going first in a battle, now for your turn, you have 3 moveslots that you can use. This means that during your turn you can only use 3 moves, unless they specify that they are passive, and do not take up a move slot. These include things like sharingan activation.
On your turn, you can describe and pick however you want to fight, whether its moving in closer to your opponent, jumping away, molding chakra, what ever your fighting style is.
Now imagine that your turn is as follows,
You want to throw a fireball at your opponent, then you want to raise the earth beneath you, and then shoot a bolt of lightning chakra at him as well. These happen in a specific order. First the fire, then the earth and then the lightning, and as such your opponent can counter or reply to your moves in that order.
1: Fireball
2: Earth
3: Lightning
If we assume that your opponent decides to counter you with an equal rank water technique, this would change the sequence of events. The reason being is that an equal rank water technique, is stronger to an equal rank fire techniqe, and the water technique will continue towards you albeit slightly weaker. This is because of Elemental Interactions!
You must be registered for see images
As seen above, each element has a weakness and strength towards another element. Using the image above you can see that Fire is strong to wind but weak to water. Water is strong to fire but weak to earth, earth is strong to water but weak to lightning. Lightning is strong to earth but weak to wind, and finally Wind is strong to lightning but weak to fire. If an element is stronger to another element, we say that the element is ONE rank higher than it was before.
An example!
Person 1 releases an A-Rank Fireball Technique. Person 2 counters by releasing a A-Rank Waterball Technique. 1) First you determine the naturally stronger element, in this case the Water Technique
2) Now that you determined the stronger element, you merely consider the Water Ball to be S-Rank ONLY against the Fireball Technique. It has NOT actually gone through any change to be considered S-Rank.
3) Now that you know the level of each, you determine the Rank setup and outcome.
4) You consider now that since the technique itself never actually was boosted, you remove the rank you consider it, because it is only a higher rank compared to the weaker element. But overall, the rank is unchanged.
Result: B-Rank Waterball
These are the basic elemental principles that we rely on when working out what happens when elements collide.
With the table below, it will show you what rank techniques do what kind of damage.
E Rank: 05 Chakra / 10 Damage
D Rank: 10 Chakra / 20 Damage
C Rank: 15 Chakra / 30 Damage
B Rank: 20 Chakra / 40 Damage
A Rank: 30 Chakra / 60 Damage
S Rank: 40 Chakra / 80 Damage
Forbidden: 50 Chakra / 90 Damage
So lets revisit the hypothetical situation before with your first battle. As an academy student, you can only use Up to C rank techniques, which is 30 damage. Now if you used a C rank fireball, and they countered with a C rank water, the C rank water would continue towards you as we discussed above, because water is strong to fire. Now to work out how much the technique is weakened by, we have a special interaction to follow.
"In regards to dealing with the "Power" of technique, this generally becomes a matter of Damage Points. Between a clash of two opposing techniques, the result between them depends on the difference of Damage Points. If there is no difference in damage points between the techs, then they both cancel out. However, if there is a difference of:
— 5-10 Damage Points, The Stronger Tech continues, but is lowered by 30 Damage Points
— 15-20 Damage Points, The Stronger Tech continues, but is lowered by 20 Damage Points
— 25-30 Damage Points, The Stronger Tech continues, but is lowered by 10 Damage Points
— 35-40 Damage Points, The Stronger Tech continues unchanged"
So we see that The C rank waterball, would technically be considered a B rank waterball, (reminder, only against the fire technique it was clashing against) causing it to be 40 damage. The two techniques clash, with a damage difference of 20 points, and so the technique itself is reduced by 20, Causing it to become a D rank waterball coming towards you.
Now we deal back again with timeframe.
Because your opponent has changed the timeframe, altering the original sequence of events, you are given a chance to change your course of action, to defend against the incoming D rank waterball towards you. This process is repeated, untill someone can no longer fight.
One of the most important, and IMO one of the most fun aspects of the RP!
A bio is your character, it represents who you are in the NInja World and Battle. Are you an Uchiha that wants to get Mangekyou Sharingan? Are you the Jinchuriki of the 5 Tails? Theres so much creativity and enough room to satiate your desire to create whoever you want!
Lets start with the basics of your rank.
Right now, just starting you youre an academy student, this means:
Base health = 35 / Base chakra = 300
2 basic elements + 1 basic ninja skill up to C-ranks
Able to submit up to C-rank customs of any learned fields
Basic elements are what I was talking about above, Fire, Wind, Lightning, Earth, Water.
Ninja skills are, Taijutsu (hand to hand punching and kicking combat) Kenjutsu (sword arts) Genjutsu (illusions) and Basic Ninjutsu (ninja skills).
Although youre only limited to 2 elements and 1 skill on a bio, you are allowed to have 2 bios at a time, with a 3rd when you reach Jounin. So you could have earth and wind with taijutsu on one bio, with Fire and Lightning with Kenjutsu on the other bio!
To tank up from an academy student to a Genin, which is the next rank you must complete the following:
Rank-up from Academy Student requires completion of 4 D/C-rank missions and/or battles
Lets move on to making your bio!
Now that we know your rank, we can also work out what kind of bio you want to have. Do you want to use Ice? Do you want to be a Nara to use shadows? Perhaps you want to jsut focus on lightning and close combat like the 3rd Raikage; A? Each of these abilities have requirements depending on what they are. For example, if you wanted to make an Ice Release bio which counts as an "Advanced element" the Restrictions are;
Can be made at any rank.
Requires Wind and Water natures to make a Hyouton bio.
Counts as an Advanced Element.
All custom Ice Release bios must originate from the Land of Water (Yuki clan) or the Land of Snow.
So if you wanted to make an Ice bio, your 2 elements would need to be wind and water to use your Ice release as well. Additionally, one of the sections of a bio is the land of origin, or land of birth. To have an Ice bio, it would need to be from the Lands mentioned above.
However lets look if you wanted to make an Ay, 3rd Raikage bio.
The member needs to be Genin Rank and a member for 6 months
Requires the member to have Lightning Release and Taijutsu
The user must spend 5,000 Kumi to obtain this bio.
So to make this bio, you would need to be at least Genin rank, you would need to have Lightning as an element and Taijutsu as a skill. Additionally you would need to spend 5,000 Kumi in the shop to buy the bio. Once you buy the bio you have permission to make this characters abilities. Should you drop the character for another for what ever reason, you can still come back to it again, without having to buy it again.
Some characters have special rules such as Jinchuuriki that there can only be one person that has the bio at any time. For more information on all these rules, look at this section here: https://animebase.me/forums/special-bio-ability-rules.427/
Lets now take a look at whats actually required in a bio!

Thats a lot, so lets break it down section by section!
Basic Information
Name:
Nickname:
Gender:
Age:
Clan:
These are mostly self explanatory, their name, nickname, gender and age go without saying. Some abilities or characters such as Ay dont specifically say what clans they are from, or might not actually come from a clan. This section can be filled out with an N/A if its non-applicable.
Looks:
Personality:
These again go without saying, what does your character look like, and whats their personality like? If you dont wish to type out what your character looks like, you can simply place a picture here as well of what they look like.
Village Info
Land of Birth:
WSE Clan:
These two are about your Ninja World origins. Where does your character come from? As stated above with Ice Release for example, some abilities require specific Areas. WSE clan however if who you personally are affiliated with in the Ninja World. Are you in a village? Are you on your own or in your own clan? This is where you fill out that info.
Rank//Chakra Info
Ninja Rank:
Specialty:
Elements:
Your ninjutsu:
Now more fun! Ninja rank is what rank you are currently, which would be academy student.
Specialties are what skills you specialize in, and what defines what youre good at.We have several to choose from that all give you benefits. I need to ask Detective L and Lord of Koas again what ranks can take what, but specialties can be found here:
Specialties can be defines as primary, secondary or apex.
Examples include:
Primary Specialties
Single Handseal Specialist:
You can perform techniques of the skill you chose to specialize in by performing a single ( 1 ) handseal, that is still double-handed except when specifically stated otherwise in the technique. This can be applied to Advanced and Custom Elements that are composed of basic elemental affinities.
Personal Summoning Specialist:
You can have one summon with you at all times. In case of Custom made summons, from Canon or Custom Contracts, you have the monopoly of that summon, and other users of the contract may not utilize it when facing you in battle, or in the NW until your defeat.
You can perform techniques of a second element with faster seals and halved handseals, if more than 3 seals ( 4 and up ).
Sourceless Materializing Specialist:
You can materialize your element or skill you specialize in without needing a source. Likewise, you can sustain creations of the element without limiting yourself, such as creation of S rank Earth Golem and allowing it to exist without sustaining it on your own. This is done by adding 1 handseal to the necessary total.
Naturalist Summoning Specialist:
You may produce the same special skills as the animals of the contracts you've signed (e.g., Toad oil, Spider silk, snake venom, etc ).
Limited to Ninjutsu Specialties. You can perform techniques of the skill you chose to specialize in without the usage of handseals, though you must still perform complimentary and logical body movements related to the technique.
Apex Summoning Specialist:
Limited to Ninjutsu Specialties. Can summon animals from both contracts in battle plus have a second personal summoning (human-sized at most).
So as you can see, there is some real benefits to having specialties!
Elements again explained prior are Earth, Lightning, Wind, Fire and Water. At your rank only up to C rank. But here is also where you would put any Advanced, or Custom elements you have.
Ninjutsu is the skills that you would have learned, such as kenjutsu, taijutsu, summoning contracts or any special skills related to the character such as rinnegan techniques or biijutsu techniques etc.
Background Info
History:
Background info and history is the story of your character. You may choose to use a fictional history to start with or even use the real history and story of your ninja world! Its completely up to you. The only rule for this is that everything has to take place in our ninja world though!
Other
Scientific Tools:
Artifacts:
So next we have Scientific tools and Artifacts! Scientific tools are Custom Technologies you may have made in the Custom Technology thread, or purchased in the Ninja World. Artifacts are similar, and can only be purchased or won in the Ninja world. They can be accumulated and so far have no limit to how many you can have on your person at one time. Ninja can have up to 5 Tools in their bio while Cyborgs can have up to 10 on their body.
Picture:
Theme Song and Background Music:
Battles
Won:
Lost:
Finally the last sections! Pictures, are where you can post more cool pictures of your character! Themesong is where you can post a link or name of your characters theme song!
As for Battles, its where you can keep track of the battles that you've won or lost.
Thats roughly about it for the Bio's section. A small note is that if you purchase a character bio, such as Ay or Orochimaru etc, you can still 'skin' the bio to make it look like a different character from a different series, however should you want to make the same character as someone else, lets say hypothetically you wanted to make All Might from My hero Academia, you would need permission from the Current user of that character before you can use the same character.
I hope that was clear and you understood it all.
Any other questions?
Well depending on what abilities you want to have, depends on where your character needs to be from in the Ninja world. Each ability has different lands for requirement, eg having Ice Release on your bio requires either Land of Waves or Land of snow, but something like Blast Release needs to be from Earth Badlands.
All rules for each ability or character can be found in this section here: https://animebase.me/forums/special-bio-ability-rules.427/
