Orochimaru's Plan
Okay so after reading the new chapters and hearing some of the new theories on how Madara won't be released due to being summoned by Oorochimaru it's all making sense and I think I've figured out Oro's plan (nice that he's still having an effect).
1)We all know his goal: to learn every jutsu. Oro knew that it was impossible to do that within a lifetime so he pursued his secondary goal of becoming immortal in order to learn all jutsus.
2)To this end, Oro developed his Living Corpse Reincarnation. There was only one flaw to his plan: the human bodies eventually began to decay and reject him. He needs a body that won't die. Being the deviant that he is he somehow acquires the Edo Tensei jutsu (hmm remember the forbidden scroll?).
3)Putting two and two together, Oro gets to work with the DNA of the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and Madara (Tobi knew Danzo, Danzo gave something to Oro for the Wood Release/sharingan mods..). Good choices for possible new bodies.
4)As we all know, the 4th failed when Oro tried to retrieve his soul, but now Oro has 3 edo bodies and wants to try them out before attempting his LCR on them. He possesses the three most powerful shinobi of Konoha, what better way to test the jutsu than wiping it out? Unfortunately for Oro, the same tanking attitude that caused his downfall really screwed up his plans. Hiruzen disabled his hands so no more jutsu.
5)How much would that suck? Having still in your possession the one of the most powerful shinobi in Konoha (who's now the only choice for an immortal body) but you can't do anything with him. So Oro then sets out to retrieve new arms, and eventually has to get a new body which he was really trying to avoid doing. This new body was a weakling that does not have enough chakra to control a possibly now modified Madara (1st + Madara is a better body than 1st OR Madara). Remember he could barely duke it out with a 4 tailed Naruto. He needs a newer, stronger body, maybe one that has bonus dojutsu that can control things and copy other jutsu...and we understand his lusting after Sasuke's body.
6)What would Oro have done after getting Sasuke's body? After getting acclimated to the Uchiha powers while using up his 3 years LCR penalty all he has to do is summon Madara, control him (combo genjutsu + residual oro chakra + sasuke's chakra...then kunai tag him), and then do his LCR. Presto, immortality, a body with Rinnegan/EMS, and Wood Release. As we all know without being able to control a summon as powerful as Madara, the LCR would have simply been reversed like Sasuke did. Even in death Madara far outclassed Oro in chakra so the situation was the same as a weaked Oro vs Sasuke.
7)Good old Oro, his plans were well thought out but never achieved. We now see Kabuto continuing where Oro left off, controlling Madara with massive amounts of sage chakra + oro's chakra, testing him out before deciding if his body is worthy. I still think Kabuto has "that jutsu" in his backpocket, one that truly had him confident that he was unstoppable: an improved Living Corpse Reincarnation that was capable of more fully possessing the target, merging Kabuto's Sage and DNA techs with Madara's body and dojutsu...creating a new So6P.
