I never said I wanted Onoki to die, I just feel that the flashbacks, Madara noticing that Onoki was the main problem, and Madara using his final form of Susanoo meant that he would go after Onoki and eliminate him first so that he could eliminate the other Kages

Of course after he eliminates Onoki the plot would kick in and Itachi would end Edo Tensei

This. Onoki is done for because of all his character development + him being the stonget link of the kages. Hes really old too. Pretty much hes fullfilled every role he is supposed to play.
