Edit- ^ I'm not sure how official you are being with that last line, but I was typing this post before I saw yours.

I would agree if the dog was initially behaving in an aggressive manner. He even started sniffing the grass lol That's most likely what made the cop approach it and extend his hand, because the dog was calm. Obviously he wouldn't have done it if the dog was showing teeth and growling. I've lived with 7+ dogs in my lifetime, was even bit by a full-grown German Shepard when I was like 5-7 years of age. Silly me was trying to eat its dog food (don't ask, I don't know either) at the same time it was eating it, it bit me on my neck and left a mark that took a few years to go away (still, it was nothing serious, just a little mark). Obviously I wouldn't be here if the dog was serious. Of course the family got rid of it. Anyways, that 'bite' the dog in the video did was nothing more than a warning, it would not have pursued the cop should he had backed away. The dog was doing all that barking and didn't do anything when it got out lol It even walked closely to the cop. In short, the dog was not a threat. They could have even let the guy approach and talk to his dog while in handcuffs to 'calm it down'. His owner speaking to him in a non-stressful state would have 'calmed it down'. Like I said, I would be okay with it if the dog was really out of control or really intended to harm. But, this could have been easily avoided.

Now this is just between dog and cops. I have no idea what was going on between the cops and the guy. So, not going to comment on it.

That wasn't self defence.

If that's what a cop thinks is a threat, then he shouldn't be a cop. There were so many other alternatives- getting the owner to calm it down, asking a civilian to hold the dog off, shooting the pavement to scare it off- the fact that the trigger-happy, bastard police officer was so willing to shoot an innocent worried dog and then watching it slowly die without even putting it out of it's misery...well, let's just say i'm sad that people like that exist- nevermind that they're allowed to be in the police force.

I'm not sure about that one, since he would have been putting a civilian at risk. Though, yeah, common sense should have prevailed here. Even if he wasn't trained to deal with dogs, I mean the cop even separated (sticking his hand between them) the owner from his dog. *facepalm* Even the other two cops (before even recognizing the other cop had his gun drawn) didn't draw their guns, but was just kinda observing the situation (though they did tug on the owner). In fact, the one with the gun is the one who persuaded them to get back. If he wasn't there, there's a big chance the other two would have let the owner handle the dog. Now of course their back was turned, and he's the one that alerted them, but the dog was approaching in a casual manner, and as we seen afterwards, didn't mind getting close to the cops. If anything, it would have made those two realize how calm it really was.

Here's the video with sound, so you can see how the one with the gun was the one who really controlled and provoked the situation. I don't have anything against these cops. I just don't agree with how they handle it (the confrontation with the dog, since I really don't know the cops' side of the story involving the dealings with the owner).

Actually, the below video describes what I observed in the video above. How the two officers was more calm and willing than the third. 0:15-0:26

First time i agree with u

the Cop was protecting himself from the Dog
the Dog started the Attack and the human life should be more worthy than an animal

it's the Owner's mistake

Anywho. A lot of other stuff you said was also offensive. He was a douchebag but you seem to be raging against America in general with him. Not cool bro.

I don't know why I am laughing my ass off at your emotional dog crusade. Let me get one thing through your head; if someone doesn't show compassion to animals, he won't ever do so to human. That is a fact. The dog was just defending his territory. I have been chased by dogs a couple of times, maybe I should have just loaded a revolver and blown the dog's snout off.

BS, his lardy doughnut-filled ass is getting what it deserves.

shows how much you thought when posting the comment. Compassion.... you just called a guy worked his ass off to be in the police and has a good record a doughnut-filled ass..... yet you wanna talk about compassion.......

Humans > Animals....

Lions > Animals

Every race must first look out for their own. What the cop did was out of defense, not cruelty. He made a mistake get over it. Yet you all call yourself humans but like idiots to other humans , and say they should be fired, so their family won't be supported... Show me the logic here.

^ Yes, because you were there every step on the way till his tear-filled induction into the force. Let's all hear, the bitter-sweet tale of the sweat on that man's brow from the honest hard work.

Compassion? The guy just decided to shoot an animal without choosing any alternative. Why should I be compassionate? And why do you think Humans > Animals? Funny, as we are possibly the only living breathing creature on this plant that doesn't contribute anything to Nature's balance, but rather aid in its destruction.

I'm done... You actually believe that? Cops are the most nonsensical and revolting of jobs in America. If the cop had any knowledge of dog behavior, he wouldn't have shot the dog. Those donut eating lard asses can seriously screw off. Oh, he can't support his family now? Who gives a shit! He killed an innocent dog that did nothing to him and had he done his job properly the situation could have been completely avoided. Goes to show how perilous the education is in America. No wonder it pales in comparison to many other countries.

I'm so glad I'm from Canada...

And this is where your clear sense of ignorance shows. "Humans > Animals" is fundamentally and biologically incorrect. Humans and "Animals" that you are describing fall under the EXACT SAME Kingdom in regards to speciation. They are part of the "Animalia" Kingdom. So basically you are saying Animals > Animals. The only thing that separates us from other species is our curiosity and immense brain power.

Your sense of logic is astoundingly stupid. You look down on other species based on your opinion but by clear inference in this thread, most disagree with you. Equality is one thing that will help advance our race as a whole and you saying "every race must look out for their own" is condescending and down right retarded. That kind of mind set would have cut it pre-WW1 and later, but we're in the 21st century. Grow the **** up and learn.

The act of shooting the dog wasn't out of defense because there was no clear sign that the dog actually attacked or was preparing to do so. It was defending its territory like any dog would; and in extension was protecting its owner; hence the term "mans best friend". The Cop was an illogical buffoon who deserves to rot in jail for his insolence. His family can't be supported? Tough luck. If the father (assuming he had children) wasn't a ****en idiot, they wouldn't be in that position. And just so you know these "hard working officers" have it easier than you think seeing as how a lot of them are overweight and serve nothing more than to take up space at coffee shops and meet monthly quota.

whatever the scenario was, whatever the polices' 'side of the story' was- the dog was not involved in it. So their side of the story is irrelevant. They were dealing with the man and he was going quietly personally making sure his dog was okay before giving himself up, there clearly was no problem at any part of this video until the man gunned down an innocent dog.

To me, this video may have well just showed me a little kid getting gunned down in the street for running to it's daddy.

Dogs just act on instinct to protect their owner from a mysterious man with a weapon. Cops have tasers they could use instead of real live rounds. That dog didn't deserve to die but the cops don't deserve the crap the get either.

Well yeah, that's why I focused on the situation between the dog and cops.

@KingHashirama Like it or not, that dog had more honour than the police officer. Everything in the world is selfish and can show you affection as long as they get something out of it. The relationship between you and another human is pretty much the same as people share with animals like dogs or cats, some people believe we were put here to look after the animals we share the world with, whether you agree with that or not- little things like an innocent dog being shot for no reason and not even put out of it's misery shows that the world can be f*cking disgusting. A dog violently died that did not need to die just because of the failure of one man who apparently has authority to wield a gun. Animal or no animal, that's an unnecessary loss of life and there is something wrong with it.

To me, this video may have well just showed me a little kid getting gunned down in the street for running to it's daddy.

And honestly, if you don't care enough for animals and think they're just meat (when really all we are is meat) then that's just your loss- because you're missing out on a huge, beautiful part of our world.

And for the retards saying, Cops are corrupted or w.e.. i'm sorry but the only reason America isn't in Anarchy is due to the Cops.

Yeah true, it's also just a coincidence that the american police force is made up of racist, violent, trigger-happy, racial profiling, dog-shooting bullies.

This is blatantly retarded a life has value no matter what it is those cops are murderers; i wonder what would be your opinion if there was a child instead of a dog to running his/her owner. Oh but; the child would be a human and that means he/she should have a right to live instead of a worthless piece of animal; right?
