i have seen many people who seem to not understand what madara really meant when he made that statement, mainly hashirama's fans, but hopefully this thread will clear things up.

if you look very carefully at the important words in that statement, you will know what madara meant. first word is ''only'', second word ''could'' and third word is ''ever'', these 3 words have a thing in common, and that is the ''past'', yes madara is talking about the past, when hashirama was the only opponent he ever faced that managed to stop him, this is basically what he meant, he was talking about the past, how do we know that? the word ''could'', is a past tense for ''can'', and he also says ''ever'', which also indicates about the past.

see, its simple, not hard to understand you know, you just need to concentrate on the words and you will know what is meant by it.

Thank you*_*

He also says 'he is no longer with us'. I still think edo hashirama can beat edo madara, since the latter admitted that ps is his full power. Hashirama beat a perfect susanoo COMBINED with the kyuubi.

Ever since the guy showed up at the battlefield, the war has been turned around on its head.

In the japanese script it says "I already told you only Hashirama can stop me, didn't i". Japanese script >> any other translation since it's directly written by Kishimoto

his full power is when he takes the fight serious, and no hashirama and the 3 hokages are the ones that turning the battle into their favor.

Shinsuusenju>PS. Until Edo Madara shows something that will help him defeat Shinsuusenju, he loses. Period.

he has shown the rinnegan which is above PS and the buddah

he says ''can'' which indicates possibility, madara never said hashirama is stronger

actually no, could isn't past tense for can, for example, I Could drink this coffee in my hand, but I choose not to. also Only is in no way shape or form a past tense word, and neither is ever. for example, I am the only one who will ever be right. Anyway had madara said, "Only hashirama could have ever stopped me" then all the other corresponding words would be past tense :whip:

look at your name, avatar and post. You're making stuff up like a madara fanboy> "until madara shows something" HE HASNT so you're going on assumptions which therefore makes your theory INVALID and fanmade. This thread should be renamed "Madara beats Hashirama Fantasy [Fanmade]

could is past tense for ''can'', but it also can be used to indicate the possibility of doing something. all of the examples you brought just indicates possibility. madara sentence is talking about the past
