Unlimited Blade Works or Parasyte takes the cake. One Punch Man is not even close in terms of depth. It is however, entertaining, but that's not always enough to make an anime " the best" imo.

Edit: I'd also put Aldnoah Zero slightly above it as well

Unless you can show me solid proof to back up that argument, you can't give him props or random feats to back up your ideal :bdpf:
How far are you in the series?
I honestly do not like its world that much. It seems much more limited than previous 'Best anime of the years' like Unlimited Blade Works & Attack on Titan being just a glorified gag manga, guess it appeals to NB and the DBZ crowd because of shallow 'feats' and power levels rather than plot or substance, and that's cool I guess.

Hasn't been a lot of competition to be fair, but until I catch up on other series- I still give it to Haikyuu season 2.
Why does everything have to revolve around the "story" in order for it to be anime of the year? It still has outstanding animation, soundtrack, good character development, comedy, superb action with an attractive plot.
Also Parasyte isn't up there for you?
Yup
Zarbon can do everything hes shown
Zarbon can one shot legitimate planet busters(took more than one hit for boros and he could only wipe out earths surface)
Even saiyan saga vegeta who was inferior to dodoria could take a planet busting blast to the face without dying and it took much more to put him down
After zenkai vegeta one shotted dodoria who would stomp this previous vegeta
Same vegeta gets stomped by zarbon
Everybody saitama has one shotted would receive same treatment from zarbon
First form freeza negged a planet with ten times earths gravity
Final form took a spirit bomb powered by nameks solar system which has three suns in "the galaxy strikes back" chapter .King kai states a spirit bomb on earth would be extra powerful because of earths large sun so nameks spirit bomb was mad powerful but couldn't kill freeza. Broly could clear a galaxy in less than a century and cell could bust a solar system(200 supernovas wouldn't stratch a solar system causr of all the empty space)
Buu could clear the universe in enough time to be considered an imminent threat to it,he could rip time space, destroy the kaoishin realm and almost repell a spirit bomb powered by a large portion of the universe and the afterlife.
Beerus could do all this in an extremely supressed state and tap planets in half and accidentally sneeze blast stars. And on a ssg level he can wipe out universe 7 which includes a similar sized universe an afterlife heaven hell demon realm kaoishin realm etc. Without even getting tired.
Saitama beats a planet surface buster and a bunch of weaker dudes and hes somehow above all this.
When u wank atleast to it logically.
Saitama>narutoverse easily tho
You're kidding me right lol?
You need to do a bit more research on Saitama and what a hyberbole means for DBZ.
But for sure Beerus>Saitama.

No UBW was not that great tbh, I love the animation and fight scenes but the story was really lackluster and the main cast cringeworthy.

Parasyte is definitely worthy but I don't count it for the current year as it started October 2014.

@OP yea I can't really think of a better anime off the top of my head. OP Man definitely deserves that spot.

Btw I'm only accounting for shows that started from scratch, not shows well into seasons. Otherwise it's very arguable.

Because narrative is where depth and substance lies, the thing that makes it more than just a contemporary show and not forgotten about in a couple year's time. Without plot you just have a nicely-presented hollow show sadly, and for a gag manga? Yeah that's fine but the way it seems to be starting to take itself semi-seriously/ is recieved and treated so seriously by fans....doesn't quite work out.

Oh. It's you.

Tf that's supposed to mean. Everything i say is true and can be backed up unlike all these bullshit claims. I pay Attention to feats and powerscaling. Not portrayal. For that is dependent on plot and plot based things are irrelevant when debating

I use scans. Read dragonball five times and repetively read opm and shit is Obvious. Yall fools can't refute for shiiiiit! Saitama barely got feats that make him formidable in dbz

I didn't have the same opinion about UBW in the beginning but i started to like it well as i got into it's episodes. The story is definitely enjoyable depending on if you know the lore of the fate universe, or if your heavily invested into it. But yea it's a series that's not for everyone.

As for anime's that started in 2015 without any prior episodes in a previous year, then yea I suppose One Punch man gets the top spot. Not really surprising though considering the amount of trash anime released this year with the exception of Seraph, K Project and Noragami.

Bruhhh you sound dumb. Please don't just make random assumptions about Saitamima if you don;t know any of his actual feats.

punch caused damage on Par with Kamehameha, and it was just the shockwave, with practically 0 build up or energy exhausted. Basically effortelssly.

Besides, he can just do this and Neg the Kamehameha [ ]

He was able to jump through a meteor, well over the size of a Spirit Bomb [ ]

He tanked a punch so strong it sent him to the moon. [ ]

Fate/Stay night UBW had too many cliches and fanservice moments for me to take too seriously after witnessing the masterpiece that was Fate/Zero.

I'm the other way round, I thought UBW was a little Evangelion-esque in the way we had our cliche anime hero, stereotypical of the respective genre and then put him through hell and test that shallow ideology until it breaks.

You have to introduce the cliche 'I fight for my friends, selfless, need to save everybody' idealism because it's then shot down.

As for the fanservice, yeah. F*ck fanservice.

I couldn't stand Shirou's hypocritical and absolutely nonsensical ideology. He had living proof he was wrong, and yet we get this from him "Just because you're correct doesn't mean you are right" another legendary quote by Emiya Shirou.

This and the fact that I couldn't bear Shirou and Rin together, all that needless chummy shit yet they had the most screentime, that's never gonna be enjoyable, the two most annoying characters having the most screentime.

Also it was shot down but his ideology was still glorified like it was the right thing to do or some shit, which I couldn't stand.

Its either Parasyte or One Punch Man for me. OPM might not have a deep story, but it doesn't need one, and its easily the most entertaining anime of the year.

Really? I feel like he matured out of it. He started the show as one dysfunctional extreme and the end of the series was more about him not becoming the other side of the extreme (like Archer & Emiya)

Plus a huge part of it was the fact that it wasn't his own belief system- he just influenced it from somebody else, hence the reason to not follow the extreme. Plus I really do feel like Emiya is one of these characters that gets a free pass for his moral ambiguity and sadistic moments just because he's a 'badass' and what a lot of anime-age demographic will support just because it's a power complex for them or cool. Also see: Itachi, Wolverine and any Benecio Del Toro character.

Guess there is some subjectivity in there though, as I actually really enjoyed Rin.
