Development Notes:
Hello everyone, I'm new here. Just made an intro thread. Over the next few days I'm going to be developing a One Piece RPG within this thread. I have a vision on how I'd like to set it up and how it will work in practice. I've done this before so I'll be using systems and stuff that have been used in the past and are tested. Despite that, this is a new project, with a new community (hopefully some will get onboard early, it helps, it really does).
I want to keep it relatively simple so it will always be easy to get into. Anyhow, I'll be starting now. Feel free to post here to say hi, ask questions, make suggestions, and whatever.
Yosh! Here I go. : o
One Piece RPG
Welcome to OPRPG! This is a text based role-playing game where participants can create their own unique characters and engage in adventures. This includes casual combat, free roaming threads, story oriented scenarios, community trading, and more. The OPRPG aims to keep it relatively simple, and while the concept is to develop this over time, it will always prioritize keeping it easy to get into.
As for the actual RP, it's alternate reality, so no canon characters exist within our setting, however the general setting is the same. Marineford exists, Loguetown exists, and so on. The lore will be filled by NPCs and us. So there you have it.
If this were a video-game I'd call it patch 1.1. We're simply starting it simple and see where we go with it. No stress.
So for starters, all you need to do is create a character profile and start your adventure in Eichiro Oda's incredible world of One Piece!
*Free Roam Thread: These threads are typically where RP actually happens outside the battlegrounds. A Free Roam thread has a theme/location. Water 7 could be a Free Roam, for instance, but more often than not it will be a custom island created for us to explore. Many interactions and short skimmishes can take place here.
*Campaign Threads: Unlike Free Roams, these have a specific plot and objective. Hosting a campaign requires dedication, as is seeing one out as a participant, but more often than not, the payout is a lot greater than other threads.
The Game Masters
The Game Masters are people who make sure the RP runs smoothly; they are the key decision makers of the OPRPG. They approve character biographies, balance out systems, and generally work on the RP. The team will eventually/hopefully grow to more people than just myself.
