1. The bullets aren't lasers, and there is no point in letting the other characters get hit since there's nothing to show except them getting hit.
2. There isn't any stretching of arcs, it's just the new fans that act that way since OP arcs are typically longer than Naruto's or Bleach's since it's not a "BWARGH LETS DO SUM FIGHTZZ" progression.
3. Some people look weird since it's Oda's style, and we fans pride ourselves in a series that manages to be the #1 Manga in Japan in terms of sales without the help of bishounen or ecchi or romance in the story. Also, the manga started in 1997. For comparison, Naruto started in 1999 and Bleach started in 2001.
4. Not all swordsmen are smart. That's just your opinion, and a misinformed one at that.

I don't get Naruto either. If he's a ninja then why isn't he stealthy?

1. Hum... Hard to tell. They do tend to miss sometimes, but they hit the same amount. Though there aren't that many guns being shot, when there are, it's usually dramatical/point blank. Also when they miss, there is usually an explicit reason. With cannon shots is more obvious, but you can actually see them getting more accurate, as if they're juts testing the canons to see the distance, and then adjust their aim (Which is a very nice detail).

2. In the Anime, yes. Instead of doing filler arcs, they opted to slow the pace and extend the episodes. It isn't exactly bad, and it's much preferred over pointless filler arcs, but sometimes the pace is crucial. That is why I prefer the Manga. In the manga sometimes it seems like the arc is stretching, but it all comes together perfectly. I think it's because Oda pays a lot of attention to details, and doesn't allow any loose end.

3. Lol, I believe Oda likes to draw unique and weird characters, and so One Piece is filled with them. It's rather amusing and I enjoy his art very much. Later in the series you will see that although Oda keeps his very unique and extravagant style, his artwork improved tremendously.

4. It's just part of his character. See it like this. Zoro has 1 path, and 1 path only: To become the best Swordsman. And he just follows that path, disregarding any other, so he gets lost, because his metaphorical path doesn't translate with the streets and trails of the location he is on.
No but seriously, it's just a comedy relief, doesn't have anything to do with being smart or stupid, and Zoro has shown many time he is not stupid, nor is any of the Straw Hats, even if they seem stupid (Especially Luffy)

1. Its like any other movie or series with bullets, if the main characters actually got shot it would be kind of silly as they would die. There are times when characters do get shot.

2. Depending on how you like the current arc it can be too short, too long or just right. Really its just a matter of personal preference. For me I haven't found any of the arcs too long.

3. Its just the style of the series. The characters are supposed to look over the top, because that's the way the series is set up. IMO it makes most characters very memorable and unique.

4. Its just a funny side to his character. Just like how Kenpachi and Yachiru always get lost in Bleach. It doesn't mean he's not smart, he just isn't good at navigation.

I don't know where you are at in OP, but more people have been shot in OP than like No Country for Old Men, Gangs of New York, and the Matrix. Ok maybe not that many people, but holy crap, every time a character is about to get shot--or die/hurt-- I'm like "He won't do it!" Then Oda does it!

I thought the arcs were pretty long too, but just enjoy them. Enjoy the wackiness. Oda does a good job of hitting the emotional rainbow in every arc. Pretty much in every episode, I lmao, feel sad, get angry, become inspired, and experience so many other emotions. I don't think there is a bad cannon arc in OP. All of them have been really amazing.

Yes, a lot of the characters are super weird, but what's wrong with that? I love OP because of the crazy and weird looking characters. I am just guessing, but I feel like Oda is trying to relate to his audience that it is ok to be different and not normal, looking or acting. We should celebrate our uniqueness. I also feel like he is trying to say that how someone looks on the outside has nothing to do with what kind of person they are.

Zoro getting lost just adds to the hilariousness of One Piece. Oda does a good job of mixing in humor with all of the seriousness, so enjoy it. Plus it makes Zoro feel more real and well rounded of character, since even this bad ass swordsman sucks at something.

Anyway hang in their OP is definitely worth it. =)
