It was hard for me to get into, although I have caught up to the currents issues.
I like the series, but in no way would I consider it a great one.
Among the big 3(Naruto/Bleach/One Piece), One Piece is my least favorite.

I dont get all the hype that fma and fma:b get. They were good but no way do they have the depth of some of these longer mangas. I wouldnt even say they are in my top 5-10 manga list.

It deserves some of it, but not all of it. I don't think it was perfect by any means, but it was certainly very good. Definitely better than Naruto but that's not saying much atm
I say that cause there was never a moment where I was not interested in the story, and the story was not cliche and predictable, no other anime I have wtched gave me that kind of experience.

one piece is boring now at least i used to think very high about oda but now no to me he's doing not a bad job but somewhat there.
timeskip so far no character devolpment and 4 or 3 arcs already pasted but maybe it's not needed now but he should just end one piece before he dies on it (God fobid).
if he don't finish one piece he can't call this an accomplishment

Depth? Longer mangas may have more depth, clearly because of more chapters, but not all depth is good. Naruto has tone of depth and the recent stuff has been shit.
But, shorter stories can have a ton of death as well. They have a high chance of being overall awesome and not 80% good and 20% utter shit. A condensed well written story can beat a long story with hit and miss writing.

So basically you have an issue's with restarting one piece because people rate it 9/10-10/10 and call it perfect.... nothing to say except it's a great anime/manga and you should give it another try

Well not going to snarland bite but well Im a staunch OP fan, and I like it hella lot and also think it has many aspects to it that are perfect and cldnt b done better but thats just it every thimg has flaws 'though others hate my girlfriend' laugh i think its what makes her devine' is what the pig laugher's boyfriend said ryt all Im saying is not everyone can give critical analysis to some pple if something is good to them thn its the best in the world.
Dont read OP with the goal of catching up or replacung another manga coz its not, and when i watch Naruto i try not to think how this wld have happened were we in op coz that sort o thinking doesnt allow u to develop yo taste.
OP is awesome u shld try it, somepple hate its art, i loath it some op fans didnt lyk FI, I cldnt stop the sensations I got from meetimg my crew after 2yrs, experiancing their new appearances and am loving still waiting for when they reveal all the fruits of their labour in tbe tymskip. I'll admit the majority of people in this section (including me) do perceive it as a flawless manga. Something can be perfect for one person but not another, all down to opinion. However, we do go a little too far when defending it.
Why wouldn't Shonen Jump over advertise it and put a lot of money into their best series? Ye, what stupid *cktard >_>

Not to sound like a **** but the reason you see less arguing among OP discussions is OP is pretty consistent. You'll get a few debates about who could beat who, NB-ers just seem to like to argue, you can make a thread and I bet close to 1/3 the posters will disagree with you over it. Also your description of OP fans is a tad inaccurate and biased, I see tons of Naruto fans behave exactly the way you said OP fans do "have bashed several of the series I have read and watched over the years simply out of jealousy or disdain" except in most of the threads here you can see most of the OP fans bashing of other anime starts in retaliation from someone talking down on OP.
What you need to do is stop worrying so much about the other people and what they're gonna do. If you feel like watching OP turn it on and turn all that preconceived drama out of it.

There're some valid reasons for that.
For the ranking, they actually do some kind of a popularity poll, and then they put the series index according to the results. As for way too much advertising... It's one of their crown jewels. So, it only makes sense.

Personally, I think the story took a sharp turn ever since the Sabaody arc events. Which then continued to Amazon Lily, Impel Down and finally Marineford, ultimately leading towards the time-skip. I think that was one of the reasons why it started to get even more popular.

In terms of shounen I'd rank one piece as followed
Hunter X Hunter>=One Piece=Toriko>>Naruto>Bleach>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Fairy tail
One piece isn't flawless but it's one damn good manga. The first few arcs are a bit slow but once you reach the Grandline part of the story things pick up dramatically. One piece is one of those manga that get better over time (story wise, fight wise, character wise, even art design wise). Arcs like Ennies loby, Empel down, Marine ford, Dressrosa, Alabasta, are some of my fav arcs out of any manga period.
The thing that sets OP apart from Naruto/Bleach/Fairy tail is the amount of content we get per chapter. There isn't a single wasted panel, we get so much detail and stuff going on in a single chapter that you wonder how much does Oda really have in store for us to keep this manga going for another 7 or so years.
One piece just leaves that fulfillment and satisfaction inside that most other manga's doesn't give me on a weekly basis. The time and effort put into one piece will make it seem like a monthly manga instead of a weekly one. It leaves me constantly guessing what's going to happen next and it's been a long time since I've been bored with one piece
But Like I said it's not the best manga out there but definitely worth reading if you a sense of adventure, fights, great story, likable characters, action, plot twists, wide range of character abilities and so on...
I used to be one of those people who thought OP was shitty and nothing compared to naruto/bleach because I've only seen a few ep's of it on TV back when It aired years ago. This all changed once I actually gave it a shot and read the manga and caught up to realize that OP is one hell of a good manga
