Break !!!! Good chapter felt a bit rushed with so much going on. Rumor is someone dies next chapter. Nami, momo, carrot are in odd situations hope they make it .

Never expected such a graphic decapitation in OP .-. that caught me by surprise. They betrayal on the other hand not so much. Never understood why someone like Kaidou condoned the presence of someone like Orochi for so long. Though, I doubt he's really dead. I mean he's practically a hydra and those are characterized by the trope that they can endlessly grow heads back. Which makes you wonder which role he will fulfill for the remainder of this arc?

Id find it hard to believe orochi isnt dead. As the orochi doesnt regrow head. A hydra does, but he isnt a 9 headed hydra. Hes based off of orochi, the mythical dragon in japan. His heads dont regrow.

Although to have him die and we not see the full power of his zoan would be sad i liked his zoan alot.

Luffy offering to take off yamatos handcuffs with such confidence leaves me to believe he has mastered the next level of armament haki and can use it with no problems at all now, so its safe to say he has definitely surpassed first commander level rather easily now

To be fair we don't know he's solely based on one mythological snake Oda could incorporate multiple legends. Also the earliest depiction of the Hydra legend only had 6 heads. Aside from that most legends/myth share the same origin point and characteristics. Like both the Hydra and Orochi had a sword hidden in one of the necks which leads me to my real question of this arc, do you think Zoro will get some new sword out of Orochi after the battle?

I think the difference between them is a bit redundant. Considering all of the things Orochi has done, it's quite anticlimactic to have him just one-shotted out of the blue. It's also unusually graphic. Dismemberment is nothing new, but so far it was mostly omitted or negligible as the wounds immediately healed due to a DF power. That leads to the conclusion that Orochi is not dead and survives by virtue of his DF (unless there's someone else in the vicinity that somehow can undo decapitation). Whether that is because he can grow heads indefinitely (like a hydra) or that he simply has a few heads to spare (like Orochi) doesn't matter much, the end result remains the same.
