Great chapter, a whole 15 pages dedicated to this fight, just what i've been waiting for.
Honestly Katakuri's Conqueror's Haki felt...unnecessary. He's already a powerhouse.
Yeah the CoC was not needed, he already has awesome haki in other departments. Oda is way too generous with 1 in a million ability. Boa, Doffy, Chinjao, Dogtooth.
Do they really all need CoC ? I wish it was a little bit more special. At this point every big shot in the New World has it which kinda defeats the purpose of having it in the first place.
I disagree, I think it makes all the sense in the world and for the exact same reasons you're pointing out. It makes far less sense for Dogtooth to have not the KD than the opposite.
It already has been properly explained in the series, but the ones who are able to reach the New World are the ones that are left after 90% of the others got weeded out. With other words they're the elite and all of them converge on the same place, an extremely hostile place. Even the people who are born there are unusually strong so that they could survive: the samurai of Wano, the Minks of Zou, the giants of Elbaf, even Dressrosa can be considered outrageous on the account of them somehow being able to avoid war for centuries in an environment like that while producing gladiators who gained fame far and wide.
Yes the KD is extraordinary rare, it's just that the majority of the ones who have it or could have it can be found in the same spot and that these are guys the Strawhats have to pass if they want to reach the end. Don Chinjao made this perfectly clear during his fight with Luffy: KD on itself is not enough as the New World has most likely the highest concentration of people who have the KD in the world, many of which who have the same goal as him.
Dogtooth is the strongest member of a Yonkou's crew, meaning the only ones higher than him are the Yonkou. He is pretty much in a league of his own. That alone makes it justifiable and almost mandatory that he has the KD, which would also explain why he is such a powerhouse. I mean you can just as easy turn your reasonings the other way around. Same thing with that it would make it lose its purpose. How would it make sense that Luffy, who has the KD, would have to go above and beyond to beat people who are apparently just strong? Now that makes the KD pointless as apparently you can reach the same level without it.
Truth be told it's almost imperative that Dogtooth has the KD. Tell me what do you think will have the most impact? A king beating a minion or a king beating a king? I mean did occur to you that the main reason Dogtooth's Haki is so strong, is because he has the KD? That causality of your arguments is very questionable and you can be almost certain that the other Yonkou have the KD and at least one other person in their crew who have it too.
