Intriguing chapter. For a while now I didn't understood why the bomb-in-a-box from FI hadn't been brought up yet. I mean what reason could anyone have to not immediately dig through freshly acquired treasure? That thing should have gone off a long time ago, but she was saving it for a special occasion. And I never understood this contradiction: Big Mom is clearly not a love giving parent, so how come Lola could just waltz off and act like nothing happened. It would have made much more sense if Big Mom would have hostile than concerned about her and this chapter confirmed what I had been thinking all along. Still doesn't explain though how Lola got that vivre card in the first place as it was mentioned it's not something even her children are allowed to have casually lying around.
Well, judging from what Judge said about the one race he didn't see and how fierce a face BM made after his comment. Then after the reaction of Lola's lack of marriage ruining her gathering immense power, my guess is that lola was supposed to marry a Giant.
OT: Not a bad chapter. Seems like BM doesn't suspect Pudding of helping the SH's but I'm still skeptical about trusting Pudding, just not enough adds up with her just yet. Can't wait to see the Brook and Pedro combo and it's about time Chopper started giving his squad a chance to win this. Best part of the chapter was Luffy talking back to BM telling her not to get cheeky. That's a future PK for ya
Edit: Nice to hear the fate of the box from Fishman Island too. Looks like BM will be setting herself up for a huge distraction. I imagine that's where Capone will make his move two as I'm sure he still has his role to play to ruin the wedding.
I concur. I first didn't get why exactly BM was so frustrated by Judge's comment of not seeing giants. Ok you collect species, but is it that big of a deal that you become pissed about not having any giants yet? But when I started thinking about which marital alliance could have possibly been that strong for BM to think she could have beaten all the other Yonkou, well giants certainly would be a strong candidate. In particular the Elbaf giants. Even a mediocre giant would already be a force to be reckoned with and if you have a few hundreds, or even thousands of them, on top of having a handful of high-tier ones that know Haki and/or have DF powers, well then you would be pissed for lesser things than someone reminding you of the opportunity you had to become the Pirate King, but was screwed over by your own daughter. The reality that Luffy already has a few giants following him on top of having good relations with several others, just makes this situation that much better.
I still don't get though why BM couldn't have just married off another one of her daughters ~_~ she has enough of them and considering these are political alliances, changing one of the involved person matters little.
Great chapter, nice to see Luffy's still Luffy.
Also, we got a subtle hint about the CD's national treasure, and where tf does all these leave Ceasar Clown?
Assuming Lola's marriage was to get an army of giants backing BM to become the Pirate King, well artificially creating giants would be an alternative approach to achieve the same goal.
