I think that Robin's reaction to the dragon is a bit more than just about the drawing. Momonosuke has a very similar form and Robin is emotionally attached to him already. Could be transference and maternal instinct kicking in.

...couldn't help but facepalm to people that give low rating for the chapter just because it is not worth overall after a whole week without a chapter.. I mean, it's not like Oda solely takes a break just to compensate for the next one either. At least there are more than 14 pages this time, and Zou plus the comedy are amazing.

He did say it consumes a lot of stamina, so i'm going to assume it's because he doesn't want to waste unnecessary energy when he doesn't even know the level of the possible threat.

My thoughts exactly . He can just take small fry down with his swordmanship . Not that he needs to fight hehe. Thats why they travel in a group.
