Shanks saw it, Buggy most likely too. Roger disbanded the crew after he became the Pirate King.
Rayleigh said they were too hasty and couldn't do anything about it. Roger is waiting for a D. Shanks is going to guide that D. to become the Pirate King and fulfill his destiny. That's what Rayleigh was talking about. I guess there was some kind of prediction written upon Rio Poneglyph or one of the poneglyphs.

Shanks told Whitebeard he bet everything on the new generation.
Luffy is practicly a reborn soul of Roger. I believe he even has the same ability of hearing "voice of all things".
He can communicate/understand animals, could hear Sea Kings. Oda deliberately kept Luffy away from Poneglyphs.

Imo, Rayleigh was too old for that job so Shanks decided to do it.

Oh, and I got my "wtf" face for few seconds when you said Crocodile is Luffy's mom xD

Exactly! This chapter just shows that some awesome stuff is coming up, Luffy's going to take down a Yonkou and even is going to claim his first turf!

Speaking of Luffy's mom though, I have some theories up my sleeve. First would be that his mom is a Tenryuubito. Dragon is out there wrecking countries, maybe trying to topple down the WG in order to see his wife, chained inside Mariejois. Next would be that she was killed by the WG for being a direct descendant of the Ancient Kingdom. Third would be that she's Crocodile. Nah, just playing with the third, but you never know.

It sounds exactly the same, but looks really ugly and ****ed up. We do have a problem. Of all the people who would spell a name from One Piece incorrectly, I'd never think you'd be one to spell Rogers name wrong.

I don't really think Luffy's mom is that special, but knowing Oda he will eventually explain who Luffy's mom is like he did with Ace, I'll just go for the she has been killed by the WG theory for now.

This chapter was out of this world. Its a pity that we have to wait for around 3 weeks for the next one. I loved it how Luffy challenged Big Mam. He's become more like a captain now stating that FI will become his turf. Loovvvveedd it!!!

So the next Shonen Jump is released 16th January in Japan, which means we'll get it on the 11th or so. So its only around 2 weeks. (We always get 4-5 days earlier than official release).

If we were right on schedule, this weeks chapter would have been released as normally: This wednesday. So it was 2 days earlier than usual.
