I personally think that it was VD who set up the attack so that he could touch the princess, he probably created the fall human for hordy to find but i dont think we will ever find that out. He created the whole situation by having the queen killed, hordy find the shooter, just so he could touch the princess and ask her to marry him

As Lili mentioned, I think you're giving him too much credit. Unless he a genius mastermind who's been pulling an act for over a decade, chances are he simply took advantage of the situation and touched the princess.

I'd be very disapointed with that kind of plot twist as it would either mean that oda completely changed the personallity of VD (making him an evil genius in one scene and a complete idiot in the other) or hidden his true nature from us.

What would be most interesting to me is if it was someone else with ulterior motives, someone other then Hoddy. The vilains look a bit underpowered for the SH (even though it's normal for any manga after a time skip to make their hero look way stronger), so it'd be great to have a mastermind behind everything that's happening and the murder of the queen.

As Lili mentioned, I think you're giving him too much credit. Unless he a genius mastermind who's been pulling an act for over a decade, chances are he simply took advantage of the situation and touched the princess.

Agreed. Otohime should have never come back alive from that trip.

My guess is they had planned to exterminate each and every fishmen once they would emerge to live on land.

Somehow Neptune found out and had no choice but to put an end to this project by aiming at the source; his wife. For the sake of his people, he killed his wife, knowing she would never resign her dream.

Oh and I'm thinking that the king has some dark secrets. The royal family is too perfect now. In the beginning of this arc when they met Neptune he seemed like a different man then in the flashback. I think there might be ties to othimes death and a stupid dicission he made desperatly trying to protect otohime from all sorts of dangers she was exposed to getting those signatures.
