Plenty of positions open on the ship.. and we don't know nearly anything about Hyozo, you can't be sure that Hyozo is ONLY a swordsman.
Zoro is swordsman and First mate/co-captain.
No, I'm a realist and you're a gambler, you're just making wild guesses. Hyozo has a much chance of becoming a part of the crew as Hodi or any other fishman at this point. In fact Hyozo has even less chance than other fishman because he's way to similar to Zoro. Never say never but at this point it's just a random guess. Being co-captain isn't Zoro's real thing, even though he is, but he's the swordsman of the group, that's his thing just like Nami is the navigator, Brook the musician etc. Oda is clear about the fact that using a sword doesn't make you a real swordsman. Zoro is a real swordsman, Hyozo is a real swordsman, however Brook even though he's capable with a sword, he isn't a "real" swordsman, he's a musician. Zoro wants to be the best swordsman in the world, it's his essence, so having another real swordsman just doesn't fit, especially not because Hyozo doesn't seem like a slouch.
Hyozo drinks sake all the time, is an assassin, is a real swordsman and he likes to cut things. Zoro drinks a lot of sake (though less than Hyozo who's always drunk), was a bounty hunter which has certain similarities with being an assassin as bounties are most of the time dead or alive, is a real swordsman and likes to cut things.
You might never know what happens in the future, however the chances are very slim and that's not being a pessimist, but reality. For an optimist the glass is half full, for a pessimist half empty, however for a realist there's just a bottle with 5/10 of the original liquid, he just says how it is.
Zoro's position as the First Mate isn't clear yet. Luffy has never referred to him as such. Currently, he is only a swordsman.
Btw, buccaneer sounds cool. And also, while trying to figure out what other jobs one could do on a ship, someone said Janitor. That would be awesome xd

Oh that's certain allright. Even if Luffy himself doesn't refer to that, Oda does. Zoro is always the number 2 of the group, so yeah he pretty much is. He always fights the 2nd strongest of the enemy, he has the 2nd highest bounty, he was the 2nd who received a bounty, he was the 2nd member of the crew and people often said that he himself could be a captain and that they're surprised someone like him fights under someone else.
