The animation was still better than what we usually get in the OP anime & it wasn't sh*t either:

... And there's much more scenes than just that. Scenes with burndy world had nice animation.

They just used a different animation art-style by having a darker outline around the character. It works fine IMO. From your list of pics., only the meteor fist looks weird/bad but that doesn't make the animation for the overall special bad. The ace death scene was animated beautifully, it was just rushed which is to be expected.
I was mistaken. It's not the animation, or movement, I was thinking off but the art. The art was shitty, the movement was good, I admit.

I'm still upset about Ace dying.. it was way more cooler than Jiraiya's death. Aww man I wish Ace had more screen time.. would've been cool. When did this episode come out?

It's.. the regular one piece art.

One Piece has a very VERY unique style to it, it always had, which is purposely exaggerated and looks nothing like any other anime. Many of the living characters looks more like caricatures than ordinary people.

This alone does not make the art style bad, it just makes it different.

All though I do admit, because it's so unique and so different from the norm, it takes some getting used to, it did for me to, I didn't like it when I first began to read One Piece, but as I moved on I began to love it, because it allows for some great jokes and amazing styalised pictures and atmopshere pieces, it brings character to the book.

It's not for everyone though, I get it, the art is very strange on purpose. I like it though, I like it a lot... calling it shitty is going a bit to far mate.

You can call it "Weird." "Strange." "Bizarre." and "Odd." and you would be absolutely correct! Shitty though? .. it's a bit to far, a bit to far.

Ew no. Oda's art is not as rough and rectangular looking as it was in the special. Watch it again and you'll see they took some creative liberties on the art. Bad ones at that.

Oh yes, i forgot to give feedback about this show.
5/5 despite everything. :bouncy:
I've rant a lot about some parts of its plot which IMO are not very satisfying, but other than that is amazing.

To simplify my negative thoughts for the special ep, let's say Luffy's victory over World is more to plotwise. Be angry with me all you want, however it doesn't change the fact Luffy wins by meer nakama willpower is bad. No, wait, hold on. My reason is this; World has a strength tenfold more than him (no df pun intended), so in my opinion, TOEI should show us more on how Luffy could lessen the gap between them, they needed to develop his effort by physical power in order to win, not by a sole boost of emotion at the end. We all can see and understand Luffy's strong wish to keep on getting stronger to protect the one he cares especially his nakama ALONG the battle, thus the said willpower has been driving him right from the start specifically after numerous times of being provoked by World.
  • If i must compare Luffy vs Zephyr and Luffy vs World, i prefer the first one.
  • Perhaps between Luffy vs Shiki and Luffy vs World, the former one is better for me.
  • Or between Luffy vs Crocodile and Luffy vs World, i say Luffy vs Crocodile.
  • Also, either Luffy vs Lucci or Luffy vs World, i favour Luffy vs Lucci.
Get what i mean with these? All the opponents seem crazy strong for Luffy at first, but their fights make sense in a lot of ways even with Luffy's "nakama sake" willpower. AAAANNNND, Toei makes Hancock looks weaker than usual :(

The good points in the show nevertheless, compensate all my disappointment =D
The animation, the unique art (hey, with art design like that, it makes the whole animated transitions smoother, highlighted on the characters' agility), characters' appearances, theme song, Hancock-chwaaan~~~~ :ilu: (i fall in love with her really hard this time), fitting comedies, great characters' flashback, awesome character designs (rep+ for Byrnndi World and his crews with amazing DF), the train of feels... Love them all.

I read some comments on some anime online websites, a certain figure at the end of the episode is a real shocker to the anime-viewers only.

I really liked the animation. I give it a 10.10/10.10.

Of course if you pause it it's going to look sloppy... it's anime. Anime isn't made to be paused, it's made to be watched in animation and movement. If you have to make a point by pausing certain parts and pointing out how bad it is then it's not that bad.

If you want bad animation, jut watch the scene from the movie where they recruited Chopper in the remake, and Zoro and franky were fighting against all those. ships. THAT was sloppy animation, when you can tell something is not-up-to-standard while it's in animation.

But I guess people will have their opinions. Just saying.

I agree with you on the first part.

But about the Chopper movie, that wasn't sloppy. That was a choice to animate it that way. That is a certain style. The movie about the baron is almost entirely like that and also the Naruto vs Pein fight is like that.

That certain style receives a lot of shit on this forum, but it should be from an opinion point of view rather than saying its bad in general.

I like that kind of animation. Fat Usopp vs the plants and Luffy eating Shirahosís meal was also like that. The art appears sloppy but its made up for the many frames and fluid movement.

I think it looks cool every once in a while. How often do you still se Zoro cut someone up like he did with hatchi and stepped through all the swords ? Now it's shi shi sonson, the screen goes black and he is behind the enemy without animation. In this video you were talking about, you actually see him cutting and slashing.

It is NOT the same. I'm not saying OP's art is shitty, I'm saying this movie's art is shitty.

If you like it thats your taste then, but I personally didn't like that scene. It wasn't necessarily that animation I had issues with, but the speed at which it was played. I believe that was called 'smear animation', and the notorious Naruto 167 where he fought Pain was 10x better, because it was fast paced even though it was the same style.

The couple of seconds that rubbed me away from the scene with Zoro/Franky VS those ships was when he zipped through those fodder and slashed them... I just didn't like that.

You're right about the fluidity and smoothness though. I also like those 2 scenes.
