Possible. However, I am inclined to think that shuriken can be brought out and thrown quicker. But when you think about it, each takes a different skill to use. Throwing a kunai and throwing a shuriken are totally different from each other. Maybe it's just preference, because hitting the right spot with even a shuriken is without a doubt deadly.
