It makes no sense to me because they have 6 One Piece chapters ahead of what they release. When they release 750, they have 756 on their desk and Oda is working on 757. For something like Oda going to Thailand(Or was it Taiwan?), they can still release the chapter because Oda doesn't have to actually be there at Shonen Jump for them to publish a chapter. If Oda is sick, they can afford to do 1-2 chapters before they need a break.
They probably want to maintain that gap for some other reasons. If they are on vacation that means they should be able to have that vacation and not draw.

I don't really get such complaints for any manga which usually gets our regularly most of the times.

Theres a chance I might die before Togashi finishes Hunter x Hunter.
Togashi is king of break.
So one week is nothing compared to years and years.

so what I get is everyone is fine with the breaks.
but quit getting pissy about it.
im just comparing the number of breaks compared to naruto.
for the guy asking about my collection
i got the box set 1-23 and about 15 other ones now
for naruto i have about 45
I will collect both fully and they are the only ones I collect.

i dont mind the breaks i just think hes been taking more lately. most just before major plot points.
but i think he drops them off a little early like 1 week so if there like we wont publish that bit he has time to change it with out it getting leaked.
and i agree oda has the best story line and one of the best drawing styles.but the one thing i like is how he can make cartoon drawing just blend in to the story. like on who framed roger

You can think whatever you want, but it doesn't change the fact that he's been sick lately, and that he needs his breaks.

But than eventually they would catc up to Oda if he didn't go on breaks and he would have to take amlong break or work week by week which could increase the pressur eon him which he does not need

And once those 6 chapters (or whatever) are used up And Oda writes chapters week to week we'll go back to having breakes

Let m just clear out some misconceptions. It is true that Oda is always working a few chapters in advance of what he already made. But this extra chapters that are indeed complete, but not published, aren't there in order to get published if something ever happens to Oda. He participates in every publishing issue actively, there aren't any chapters that he sends to publish in advance. All the complete chapters are there to guarantee continuity of content. They're there to give the artist and the magazine an idea of where to end and begin each new chapter, in order to get the most content out of a week's publishing and still give a sufficient cliff-hanger to prepare the audience for the next week. The chapters in advance are for marketing and logistic, they allow the magazine and the artist to give a more well rounded chapter, when it does commence, and advertise in previous publications in expectation of the next chapter. Don't think Oda simple shows up in the morning of the magazine with a finished chapter and completely no preparation. The magazine knows in advance what he wants to publish, up to a few unpublished chapters, and then they work together to launch the actual, publication-ready, complete chapter.

So if something happens to Oda, or if he as a scheduled (with the magazine) break, the so called "complete" chapters won't be published, because they're only complete in terms of content and quality, not in terms of presentation to a reader. When he does prepare in advance for a longer break, it's an active work on his part, where he churns out chapters at a faster and unsustainable rate, they don't fish out a "complete" chapter from the stock he has.

Actually I was deeply surprised just how many weeks went past in thus turn where there were no breaks.

It's like for the last month and a half i've checked in every wednesday thinking. "Oh there probably wont be a one piece chapter this week, after all there has been every single week for a while." and then there was.. and I could only think. "Holy shit!"

So yeah, I am almost thinking he is taking to few breaks considering how much work it takes to write such a page and how some people could end up suffering form work related stress syndromes quite easily.
