He's in the hospital dumbass, he has infected tonsils.

Besides he doesn't draw, he creates art. Also do you really think he just starts with the next chapter as soon as his latest one comes out ? Of course not he has 4-5 on the shelf in the rough. So it's shounen who decides that there is a break.

That is the difference between you and god. Now bow and pray for his health.

Which is why I don't get why Shonen doesn't just keep releasing chapters from Oda's reservoir... I mean, isn't that the reason why Mangaka's plan in advance, to keep the chapters coming if something bad happens?

I don't think Oda does it because some douche from Jump may spoil crap. IMO

In an SBS or interview, Oda stated he is typically five chapters ahead of what is released, though sometimes more or less.​

NO one peice MANAGa for a long time

Oda-sensei has apparently been hospitalized (heard it may be infected tonsils...if anyone could confirm?). This means that thing he does will be on hiatus for at least two weeks, possibly longer. More importantly, everyone here at the Mstream family hopes he has a speedy recovery.

Not sure, I wonder this too sometimes but w/e. Hope Oda gets better. Oda first then One Piece.

Well, I can come up with a theory one this. Basically, last chapter the manga concluded a big chunk of story, by ending the B round match. It's a good place to make a break, as next Oda would just either continue the stories of everyone outside the arena, or start a new round. Since Oda was hospitalized, I'm not sure if it will b just for 2 weeks. But, since there are only 4-5 chapters in advance (And even those might not be 100% ready), Jump decided to take a break. After two weeks, Oda might still be in bed-rest, so he will only need to check on the chapters already wrote, making sure everything is alright. So, in 2 weeks, we'll start seeing chapters from Oda's reservoir, until he is ready to get back to work and build more chapters for back-up.
