As much of a good planner as Obito is, his preparations for the war were simply unsufficient. He would have been pulverized if it wasn't for the accidental meeting with Kabuto and unexpected alliance between them.
If Obito hadn't allied with Kabuto, he wouldn't have any edos, so he wouldn't have neither his jinchuuriki paths nor Edo Madara on his side.
He was damn cocky if he really believed him and an army of Zetsu (not empowered by Yamato, remember it was Kabuto who caught Yamato for that) would be enough to take out the Shinobi Alliance. U_U
