Obito's preparations for the war were pretty... bad

As much of a good planner as Obito is, his preparations for the war were simply unsufficient. He would have been pulverized if it wasn't for the accidental meeting with Kabuto and unexpected alliance between them.

If Obito hadn't allied with Kabuto, he wouldn't have any edos, so he wouldn't have neither his jinchuuriki paths nor Edo Madara on his side.

He was damn cocky if he really believed him and an army of Zetsu (not empowered by Yamato, remember it was Kabuto who caught Yamato for that) would be enough to take out the Shinobi Alliance. U_U

The war only served as an opportunity to fetch the Kyuubi and Hachibi, he didn't plan on winning the war.

maybe he had another plan? remember the point of this war is not to win but to get kurama and gyuuki so obito never cared if he lost the battle, his only plan was to get the two jinchuurikis out as soon as possible and capture them so he can summon the juubi and use infinite tsukuyomi

Agreed....Kabuto was the main reason of the current situation. Obito really was arrogant to think that he could beat the SA. Naruto + Kakashi + Killer B + Gai could beat him in a 4x1 battle.

actually the zetsu army would have been sufficient. before naruto stepped on the scene, the alliance would've had its hands full once the zetsus started cloning chakra and transforming into shinobi from the alliance. naruto thwarted that tactic. i think that was the sole purpose for the zetsus. and even then he used that tactic to lure naruto out into the open once he found out his abilities from kisame.
