Before you read this, this is not an Obito hate thread o-o It's just discussing Obito's personality.

When you look at Obito, you are staring at a young boy that never grew up. From the moment he resurfaced into the world, he has been stuck in this whole 'illusion' of completing the eye of moon plan; wanting to bring back Rin.

It explains a lot about his personality, his hastiness, his constant use of the word 'trash'. All are traits of a man who has retained the personality of a child who missed out on years of maturing like Kakashi and the rest of Konoha did.

Let's take a look at Obito's flaws:

  • It requires more than the power of just one person to control the juubi; without Madara, Obito would have lost controlled and consequently killed himself and the rest of the shinobi world.
  • His failure to accept the harsh reality of death; unlike Kakashi.
  • His failure to gather all the bijuu to complete the Juubi.

What is the root of this problem? The infinite tsukiyomi. It seems that Obito has got himself caught in his own illusion; due to meeting Madara he has lived a life isolated for 16 years, during which he doted on the eye of moon plan and reviving Rin in his dreams. It can be easily said that if any person heard about the eye of moon plan, and its abilities, they could fall for it too and pursue that dream and that's exactly what happened to Obito.

He fails to realise that the real Rin will not be in the dreamworld, and only an illusion.

If Kakashi had seen Obito that day when he massacred the mist ninja, things would have been different, and Obito would have returned to the leaf and learned to grow up and accept the world instead of bearing the burden of Madara's ideals and his view of the world as 'hell' itself.

So you need to understand that Obito is not just this 'butt-hurt' guy, but really someone who is stuck in the past.

Well explained...good stuff.

screw the fanboys and the retards, obito is just like any other character or human.

he has his flaws, no one is perfect

so ignore the idoits who single him out
Clearly, not everybody is on the same 'ladder' on the evolutionary scale.

Yes you're right.

Let's remember something here, behind a mask, you can be anyone.

But once the mask is off, he's back to being Obito, the boy that never grew up.

Agreed, he's stuck in the past. He wants to create the dream world so they can be kids again. He said that in his genjutsu he would bring back Rin AND Kakashi. I think he just wants his old life back.

Though, it should be recognized that he's adapted to his reality so he can create a new one. he's not totally stuck in the past.

Yes, I agree. Being around Madara, he's unable to accept his life and live on.

If he returned to Konoha and spent time with everyone else, he would have lived a different life.

I'm very surprised that you didn't mention his overconfidence. It seems to be his biggest flaw as that was what his downfall was in his fight vs Minato and what his personality was as Tobi and still is.

There is no proof that he wouldn't be able to control it himself. Don't make up facts.

"If Kakashi had seen Obito that day when he massacred the mist ninja, things would have been different, and Obito would have returned to the leaf and learned to grow up and accept the world instead of bearing the burden of Madara's ideals and his view of the world as 'hell' itself."

Don't make up facts :)

See Above

"His failure to accept the harsh reality of death; unlike Kakashi."

Remember that he was actually quite a strong willed person, and sacrificed himself to protect Kakashi from a gigantic falling boulder. He was much more attached to Rin than Kakashi was as he was in love with her.

"His failure to gather all the bijuu to complete the Juubi."

Is that his flaw? Or his limit? Either way I don't see it falling into the category as one of his personal character flaws.

"He fails to realise that the real Rin will not be in the dreamworld, and only an illusion."

Nope, he understands that Infinite Tsyukiomi is a genjitsu. He just doesn't care anymore.

Try and make your posts shorter and more to the point. You'll get a lot more clear & concise points across :hint:

If only Obito learned about his kamui dimension earlier then he could have freed himself from Madara's cave. Maybe teleport directly to konoha hospital...?

I was actually trying to read between the lines and understand his personality. No facts were made up.

He would have lost control. Madara and Obito both had to use their Senju DNA so subdue it; there's no way Obito could have surpressed it on his own. Let's not forget how much chakra Madara has.

Yes, you should focus a bit harder. His failure to collect the bijuu shows that he is hasty and wants to revive Rin. An incomplete Juubi might not even produce the perfect Genjutsu.

And don't use that 'I don't care anymore' as an excuse. Anyone is smart enough to realise that the real thing is better than an illusion. Obito's stuck in the past and believes life's a fairytail.

If protecting Obito is what you are doing, you are terrible at it, so just stop please.

And my post is fine, it's not long. It's probably because you think I'm a noob here, when in fact, I'm not. In fact, that was extremely hypocritical since your post was terribly laid out, and was horrible to read. You might want to think before you speak.

You forgot the huge flaw.
His plan was originaly:
1: Collect the Bijuu
2: Use Nagato to revive Madara
3: Revive the Ten Tails
4: Infinite Tsukiyomi
5: ?????????
6: Rin

Alternate plan:
1: Screw Madara
2: Place Nagato under Genjustu
3: Use him to revive Rin
4: You Win.

Obito isn't butthurt, he's buttmad. Because Rin died.

As you noted, Obito's a failure. The real question is: Who will kill Obito? My money is on Madara popping his head off right in front of Kakashi LOL

i think obito realised in mid way of the plan that project tsukinomi was kinda bs.

so, he created a plan b.

he created a win-win situation for shinobi world.

yes he started a war but this war was different.
it wasn't a war between two countries , but rather a war to protect.

obito could have easily used his S/T and get hold of naruto and bee, we all know that.

but instead he preferred to unite all the villages and started a war on them, alone.
if project tsukinomi fails, shinobi world is united and no kage bears hatred towards another. They will help each other.
If shinobi alliance fails, we have project tsukinomi.

So whatever obito did profits the future of shinobi world.
