Madara is boring me as well, as it's the same stuff again. He needs to get inside Kaguya - pun intended - or viceversa and wrought up shit. Otherwise, it'll be a bore fest.

If Obito had just revived Madara when Madara asked before Obito tried to absorb the ten tails [chapter 610], we would have basically jumped 30 to 40 chapters in the future [chapter 657]. The story did not need Obito to become the jinchuriki, so essentially yes. Obito was a waste of time.

Obito is still a better character. Just because madara is getting plot shielded, doesn't mean hes any good. Hes still a classic 2 dimensional villain.
