Obito vs Minato(a certain type of epicness)

So Obito would've been 14 to 16 right?
So the whole time Minato fan boys have been using this fight to praise Minato when really its more impressive for Obito to be able to go toe to toe with the Hokage
(Note i am not an Obito fan but this is interesting)

thats only because obito knew about kushina naruto and the 3rd hokage's plan about the seals and preparations for naruto's birth. Obiot knew more than minato did at that time and used it as an advantage. He was also trained by madara by then and has knowledge on minato's powers. Gotta give minato some props for doing well against him while worrying about naruto kushina, konoha, and the nine tails at the same time fighting him. so yeah

well than there is the whole theory of swirly zetsu or poop zetsu becoming one with obito that would greatly increase his knowledge or swirly zetsu taking over obito and fighting minato dunno these could be both wrong be we have to assume the most obvious

Another thing is that most of them think that Minato easily beat Obito but in reality it was much closer than that. Even Minato says that whoever strikes first wins.

last time i checked obito got a rasengan to the back and stabbed with a kunai. i don't see how that is "toe to toe" minato had a small trouble hitting him and he over came it.....just like naruto and company did

he: Took Control of Kyuubi, Fought MInato(every one knew about FTG), he orchestrated a plan to take the nine tails and whatever else he was trying to accomplish.

he didn't lose in a flash like every other opponent(not inlcuding raikage and bee)
he did last pretty long before getting outmatched

it is indeed impressive that he could go toe to toe with Minato, but remember
1) minato didnt show his full strength
2) Obito was also trained (ish) by Madara and mastered his Sharingan really quickly

I mean its a good thing to say but he was powersurged so much by kishi to make him a badass bad guy i mean tsunade ( a legendary sannin) and Jiraiya a sannin as well both lost to Pein and yet naruto beat pain. see what im saying? the power scale is huge

obito with the help of zetsu it was 2 on 1 actually. +kurama attacking the village. minatos family is in danger. obito knows who he is dealing with. all of the advantage is in favor on tobi but he got rasengan in the back lol and retreated leaving his important jubii to be sealed away lol

To top that off the Kyubi was running rampant putting even more pressure on Minato. Geez if anything MInato was at a tremendous disadvantage in that fight given how dangerous Tobi's S/T abilities are.

And still Tobi got owned even with all those factors playing in his favor, it wasn't an even match at all Minato just didn't know at first how Tobi's technique worked, in a few moments he figured it out AND once he knew how it worked it was pretty much over for Tobi.

If Minato would have known from the beginning about Tobi's techs(like Tobi knew about Minato's techs) the fight would have been over in an instant.Still the fourth owned him like a boss.

It's impressive for both of them. It's impressive that Teenage Obito manage to stand up to Minato, while it's impressive that Minato managed to counter Obito's Kamui something that even a team of Killer B, Naruto, Kakashi, and Gai struggled to accomplish.

In recent chapter swirl zetsu merged with Obito which makes me suspicious that he also was involved in Obito's fights AND did you notice Obito's hair matching with the masked guy who met Itachi....and the one fought Minato was earlier than that time and Obito looked much older and had his usual hair...:shrug:

No, you have it backwards. Obito knew about FTG. But he didn't know about FTG lvl 2. If he did, he would of most definitely won. Before Minato pulled out the lvl 2 FTG, the fight was in Obito's favor. See, level 2 FTG is the ability for Minato to teleport to a moving kunai. Obito simply thought Minato was throwing the kunai at him. He had no idea that Minato was going to teleport to it. If he would of known about FTG level 2, he would of stayed intangible. The fact that Minato had to pull out FTG lvl 2 against a 14 year old says enough. Btw, Obito would of also probably won if he had Kurama next to him.

All things considered I think personally the fight is a credit to minatos skill. Obito had full intel,2zetsus kurama and madara helping with the plan. And he still lost. Minato stratigized and adapted on the fly.

Read my above post. Obito never had full intel nor did he have 2 Zetsus from what we know, only Zetsu parts. Obito was 14 years old also...

How does it feel to be in denial? I never said he knew EVERYTHING about Minato, but you can't deny that he knew most of his abilities, wasn't he his student after all? MInato on the other hand knew NOTHING about Tobi's abilities (which are among the most dangerous in Narutoverse) because when He was under Minato's leadership he had NOT developed his sharingan abilities, so Minato was at a huge disadvantage right there.Are you saying Minato was at a favorable position just because Tobi didn't know he was going to use FTG lvl 2?

And what about the Zetsu guys fusing with Tobi? What about those huh? It wasn't a fair fight at all and still he got owned.One more thing, what if Minato had at least some intel on Tobi? he didn't finish the fight in a second ONLY because he had never seen or heard of such an incredible S/T justsu as Tobi's, ONCE he figured it out it was over.

Your assuming he didn't know.But that's irrelevant seeing as that's not even biggest part of the monstrous advantage he had. And his age isn't impressive at all when taking into account that he has madara in his corner. It's quite expected actually
